2013 FERRARI F12 BERLINETTA

This Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a unique example of a landmark supercar, boasting a bespoke ‘Tailor Made’ specification and superb provenance, and presented in as-new condition. Under the bonnet is the astonishing 6.3-litre naturally aspirated F140 FC V12 engine, producing 730bhp, with rear-wheel drive via the seven-speed dual-clutch F1 transaxle. The odometer shows just 4,900 miles from new.

A result of Ferrari’s exclusive Tailor Made personalisation programme that goes beyond the standard specification process for a new model, this F12 Berlinetta was commissioned by well-known dealer and collector, John Collins of Talacrest. It was built in homage to one of the original 1962 Ferrari 250 GTOs - chassis number 3445GT.

During the 1960s, 3445GT participated in the Targa Florio, 12 Hours of Sebring, Coppa Inter Europa, 12 Hours of Reims, and more. One of the most recognisable examples of the 250 GTO, being a regular visitor to Pebble Beach and the Cavallino Classic, it is the only car finished in the bright blue and yellow livery of Sweden — a product of being owned and raced by Scandinavian racer Ulf Norinder.

It is this livery that was the inspiration for Collins’ F12 Berlinetta commission, choosing the vibrant combination of Bugatti French Racing Blue with a Giallo Modena stripe - the only car of its kind to feature this colour scheme. The interior was specified in Blu Scuro leather, with optional areas finished in the same trim. As a further special touch, the three bezels around the gear selector buttons on the carbon-fibre bridge were finished in blue and yellow paint to mirror the exterior theme.

Naturally, the car is accompanied by a raft of documentation that details its build, including personal correspondence between Collins and then Ferrari chairman, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, as well as an extensive photo album showing the F12 Berlinetta alongside other cars in the collection. First registered in August 2013, the car was kept by Collins for six years, who covered around 3,000 miles behind the wheel. The seller, who is the just the second owner from new, has added around 1,900 miles to the total.

Today, the bodywork and paint presents in superb condition, with no damage whatsoever, and with impressive shut lines all around the car. In tribute to 3445GT, the car’s grille has a chrome finish to the slats. Its specification also includes gloss black lower mirror inserts, the black sport sill covers, privacy glass for the rear windows, and Scuderia Ferrari wing shields. The car rides on the optional lightweight 20-inch Y-spoke forged alloy wheels in silver, which are in pristine condition, and with yellow brake calipers around the carbon-ceramic brake discs. The AFS headlight system and suspension lifter are also installed.

In the cabin, the ‘Leaf’ style seats are fitted, featuring full electric adjustment and heating, upholstered in Blu Scuro leather. The dark blue trim also extends to the optional leather headliner and parcel shelf, the dashboard panels and door cards, the centre console, and the rear firewall panel. There is extensive use of carbon-fibre throughout the interior, including for the outer sill plates, central bridge, the dashboard inlays, the LED steering wheel fascia, and the gear shift paddles. It even has a carbon-fibre cup holder.

The central rev counter is finished in white, which was chosen by Collins as it was the only chargeable option rather than the free-of-charge red or yellow. The factory-fitted equipment includes cruise control, electrochromic rear-view mirrors, the NavTrak anti-theft system, front and rear parking cameras, and the high-power hi-fi system. All of the interior trim and switchgear is in superb order, with no significant wear, and no faults.

Mechanically, this F12 Berlinetta is in excellent condition, with the most recent scheduled maintenance taking place in July 2020 at 4,800 miles at Dick Lovett Ferrari, consisting of an oil service. Prior to this, recent service visits were to Dick Lovett in October 2019 and Maranello Egham in August 2018.

The most recent MOT test was on 8 July 2020 at 4,896 miles. Initially the car was tested with the shorter ‘show’ plates on, but once these were swapped it passed with no advisories whatsoever. Its wheels are shod in the original tyres, which remain in good condition with around 5mm of tread.

Accompanying the car are all of the original books and accessories, as well as the aforementioned history file containing fascinating early correspondence about the build and unique commission, and the excellent photo album.

This Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a thrilling supercar that boasts a bespoke heritage-inspired Tailor Made specification, very low mileage, and comprehensive maintenance history. A stunning high-performance road car in a show-stopping colour scheme, this would make a superb addition to any collection of Maranello’s finest.
