2013 CATERHAM SEVEN ACADEMY CAR

This Caterham Seven Academy Car is a lightweight, no-frills sports car, which is ready to excite on the road or the track. Under the bonnet is a 125bhp 1.6-litre Ford Sigma engine, which is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 6,581 miles.

First registered on 1 March 2013, this Seven has two previous keepers on the log book. Its body panels were initially painted green, and it was built to compete in the Caterham Academy championship. Recorded as having a colour changed to red in 2014, it is assumed that this is when it was converted to a more accommodating road specification with two well-padded comfort seats.

There is no known previous damage to any of the panels, and its red and white colour scheme is a superb heritage-inspired aesthetic. There are some minor chips and blemishes in the paint as you would expect given the age and mileage, but overall it presents very well. The 13-inch alloys have gloss black painted centre and polished rims, and are in good order with only a few nicks around the edges of the wheels.

The cabin is well set up for fast road use, and the black upholstery of the comfort seats is in great shape with no damage or heavy wear. There are four-point Luke safety harnesses for both driver and passenger, and a leather-trimmed three-spoke Momo steering wheel. All of the switchgear works as it should, and there are no faults with any of the instrument gauges.

It was last serviced in June 2020 at 6,580 miles by Bell Sport & Classic in Hertfordshire. This consisted of a full service with a cambelt replacement, as well as renewal of a rear wheel bearing. The Avon tyres are date-coded to 2015, and have 3-4mm of tread remaining.

The last MOT test was carried out on 19 July 2019 at 6,251 miles. It initially failed on a few minor points, but passed on this date one week later, with only one advisory regarding slight play in the offside rear anti-roll bar linkage ball joint.

This Caterham Seven Academy Car is an engaging performance machine that strips back the elements of a great driver’s car to their purest form. With a rev-happy engine, a slick manual gearbox, and wonderful handling, it would make a superb weekend toy or track day entrant. Presented in very good order, with a recent full service and cambelt replacement, it is ready to enjoy immediately on your favourite B-road or circuit.
