2012 RENAULTSPORT CLIO 200 RAIDER

This Renaultsport Clio 200 Raider is a very rare special edition version of the marque’s coveted hot hatch, and one of only 28 examples sold in the UK. Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre inline-four engine producing 197bhp, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 54,500 miles from new.

Named after the end-of-line Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider, this Clio 200 features a number of tweaks over the standard car. The model’s 17-inch wheels have been replaced with 18-inch gloss black items, while the cabin comes equipped with leather Recaro bucket seats as standard. All Raiders were fitted with the Cup chassis, alongside a choice between an integrated TomTom unit or a Renaultsport media system.

First registered in January 2012, this rare Clio 200 Raider has been with its current keeper for just under one year. As displayed on the interior plaque, this example is Number 10 of the 50 Raiders planned for the UK, though records show only 28 were actually sold.

The aggressive bodywork of this collectable hot hatch is in excellent condition, and to the best of the vendor’s knowledge, has never sustained any damage. The car is finished in Stealth Grey, one of two colour options available for the Raider, and the paintwork is described as being in excellent condition. All of the body trims appear to be in good shape, accented by Renaultsport and Raider badging around the vehicle. The 18-inch ‘Interlagos’ alloy wheels are in generally very good order, though there is a kerb graze around the nearside front rim.

Inside, the black leather trim is in great shape, presenting with minimal wear in the front and just some very light creasing in the rear. The headlining, door cards and Renaultsport floor mats present as they should, while the steering wheel has a red 12’o’clock marker. Equipped with the optional TomTom navigation system, all of the car’s electrics are reported to work as they should, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard.

Since acquiring the car, the vendor has had new brake pads installed. Prior to this, the car’s last scheduled maintenance was in February 2019 at main dealer Renaultsport Wakefield, which consisted of an engine oil and filter service. It also received new exhaust flexi joints in September 2019. In July 2017, the car was serviced at approximately 46,000 miles, when the cam belt, auxiliary belt, water pump and coolant were also replaced, and in February 2016 at 41,000 miles for another oil and filter maintenance visit.

The most recent MOT test was on 26 January 2021 at 54,431 miles, which resulted in a pass with two advisories to monitor worn brake discs on all four corners. The wheels come wrapped with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, with a reported 4.5mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car are all of the original books and literature, including a selection of previous maintenance invoices. Two original key fob cards are also present.

Believed to be the only example currently for sale in the UK, this Renaultsport Clio 200 Raider is an exceptionally rare special edition of the acclaimed performance model, presented in excellent condition throughout. One of only 28 such cars built, and among the last of the naturally aspirated hot Clios, it marks a great opportunity to own a thrilling hot hatch.
