2012 MCLAREN MP4-12C

This McLaren MP4-12C is an original and unmodified example of the marque’s first-ever car built and designed completely in-house, benefiting from both low mileage and exclusive McLaren Special Operations (MSO) touches. Located behind the driver is a 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, channelling drive to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The odometer shows just 28,630 miles.

First registered on 1 August 2012, this 12C is a UK-market example has only two previous keepers, and has been in the vendor’s ownership for nearly two years. It is finished in MSO Azure Blue paintwork and MSO limited-edition full red leather interior, as well as front and rear parking sensors.

This McLaren’s rare hue was only available via special order and presents in very good condition on this example. As befitting the car’s low ride height, some small stone chips are visible on the leading edge and sides of the front bumper, as well as on the sills near the side air vents. Overall, it exudes an impressive shine, and the glass, headlights and tail lights are free of cracks. The side vents and rear spoiler are wrapped in carbon-effect vinyl, and still look very presentable. This 12C is fitted with the original 19-inch alloy wheels, which are free of damage.

Inside, the interior is complemented by the addition of the optional electrically-adjustable and heated memory seats. Finished in full red leather, these were an expensive option when new, and show only light signs of use. The gearshift paddles and steering wheel are likewise in very good order. Other factory-fitted equipment includes the premium Meridian DSP sound system, as well as McLaren floor mats.

The original build invoice shows a vehicle tracking device to have been fitted, and a McLaren Automotive battery trickle charger is also included in the sale. The minimalist dashboard design complements the car’s clean lines, and the dashboard switchgear and IRIS display are in full working order.

This McLaren has been diligently and regularly serviced to date, with its most recent service occurring earlier in November 2020. This was a major service carried out by McLaren Bristol at 28,576 miles. It has only ever been looked after by McLaren main dealers.

The most recent MOT test was on 6 November 2020 at 28,624 miles. This was a first-time pass, with advisories for worn rubber dust covers on the rear ball joints, a slightly weak offside headlamp washer, and a stiff fuel flap latch mechanism.

This McLaren rides on Pirelli P Zero tyres, with approximately 3.5mm remaining on the rear set. The front tyres were replaced earlier this month with brand-new items.

As an unmolested example, this car retains its original handbooks, service invoices, travel kit, washer fluid bottle and fuel nozzle, as well as the aforementioned battery trickle charger.

This McLaren MP4-12C is a well-specified example of this incredibly agile and capable British supercar. Combining elegant design with superb performance, it could be a great entry point to supercar ownership, and would be a wonderful companion for weekend jaunts or long-distance road trips alike.
