2012 MCLAREN 12C

This McLaren 12C is a superb example of the British marque’s Super Series lauded contemporary supercar, which remains under an extended warranty until February 2022. At the heart of the 12C lays a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing up to 616bhp and 443lb-ft of torque, coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It has been subject to the important McLaren official Technology upgrade featuring more power and revised Active Aero software and later IRIS2 infotainment system and rear camera. The odometer indicates just 14,400 miles from new.

First registered in February 2012, it the vendor reports that this particular 12C was ordered and specified by renowned broadcaster and racing driver Martin Brundle, but that he did not take delivery and that it was then sold to another customer. The vehicle has been in the vendor’s collection for one year, with two previous keepers on the logbook.

There is absolutely no evidence of any damage to its sleek, minimalist bodywork. The Graphite Grey paintwork – a special order hue understood to appear on just 50 examples worldwide – is in excellent condition and has been safeguarded by a paint protection film application to all leading edges, which the vendor reports displays some minor marks. The 19-inch double-arm five-spoke alloy wheels present exceptionally well, with no kerbing marks or other blemishes.

The Carbon Black leather interior is in superb order, with the seats and interior trim showing only signs of very light use and no significant wear to speak of. The minimalist design continues inside, with a steering wheel free of any buttons, and a simple but functional centre console. The vendor has noted no issues with any controls, switches or other electrics, and no warning lights present on the dashboard.

The most recent service was undertaken in February 2020 at 13,860 miles by McLaren New Forest, where the vehicle received a major service, including new air, oil and cabin filters and an intake sound generator. Prior to this, a minor service was carried out at 13,143 miles and a major service was done at 12,429, all by McLaren main dealers. The next service due in February 2021 has already been pre-paid and is fully transferable to the new owner.

The car also underwent a full inspection in August 2020 at McLaren New Forest, where the technicians addressed any other issues that were found, including replacement of the rear lights with modified parts, spark plugs, injectors, coil packs and camshaft phasers. Also carried out was a full suspension check and wheel alignment, as well as an actuator test.

The last MOT test was on 6 August 2020 at 14,281 miles, which resulted in a clean pass. The two Pirelli P Zero front  tyres were replaced during this MOT, while the matching rears were fitted approximately 1,000 miles prior, and remain in excellent condition.

The vehicle comes with a stamped McLaren main dealer service history, along with the original vehicle handbook, two keys and copies of maintenance invoices. For greater peace of mind, this 12C is covered by a full extended factory warranty, valid until 28 February 2022.

This McLaren 12C is a low-mileage example of the marque’s first supercar since the McLaren F1, and as such is surely a collectable modern classic, not to mention a thrilling road car. Finished in a rare special order colour, presented in superb condition inside and out, and fresh from a recent full McLaren inspection, this particular car ticks all the boxes for someone looking for a superb example of the breed, with no McLaren servicing or warranty costs until the end of February 2022 – offering the next owner a considerable saving.
