2012 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 CENTENNIAL EDITION

This Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition is a rare and powerful limited edition sports coupe, presented in excellent condition throughout. Under the bonnet is a 505bhp 7.0-litre naturally aspirated LS7 V8, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows approximately 6,950 miles from new.

The Z06 was the lightest of the C6 generation Corvette models, featuring carbon-fibre front wings, a larger rear spoiler and front splitter, as well as stiffer springs and shock absorbers, and thicker anti-roll bars. This car was also specified with the Z07 option – understood to have been fitted to just 117 Corvettes in the final year of C6 production – which added carbon-ceramic brake discs and a carbon-fibre aerodynamic package.

The Centennial Edition package was available across the model range, and applied bespoke finishes to the exterior and interior, including satin black graphics, a satin black finish to unique 19-inch and 20-inch rims at the front and rear respectively, and red brake callipers. Graphics featuring Louis Chevrolet and the ‘100 Years’ strapline feature on the B-pillars, wheel centre caps and steering wheel boss. It also featured Magnetic Selective Ride Control as standard.

First registered on 1 January 2012, this is believed to be the only Centennial Edition car supplied new to the UK, and was delivered to its first owner via the official importer, Bauer Millett. The second keeper then held onto the car until March 2018, when it was acquired by the current owner with around 4,633 miles on the odometer.

Its bodywork and Carbon Flash metallic paint are reported to be in excellent condition. There is a small - approximately 3cm - scratch on top of a front wing, and some light gravel chips around the lower rear intakes. The vendor reports that the front splitter was repainted in 2019. Its unique Centennial Edition wheels are in superb order, retaining their bespoke red stripes, showing only two very minor ricks in the rim of the driver’s side rear wheel.

In the cabin, the black and red colour scheme continues, with Ebony leather accented by red stitching throughout. There is also black microfibre suede trim for the seat centre panels, door handles, gear shift and handbrake gaiters, armrests, and the steering wheel rim. There are signs of light use on the driver’s seat, but no heavy wear or discolouration at all. Factory equipment includes heated seats, cruise control, and even a head-up display as part of the 2LT multimedia upgrade option.

The car is fresh from scheduled maintenance at Peter Chambers Automotive carried out in October 2020, comprising an oil and filter change. A new battery was also fitted in August this year. Prior to this, it was also seen and serviced by Peter Chambers Automotive in March 2018 at 4,832 miles, which included an oil service and renewal of the brake fluid. Its first service was carried out in January 2014 at Bauer Millett at 2,161 miles.

The last MOT test was on 27 February 2020 at 6,645 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories or alerts. Its wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres to the original specification, which were fitted just prior to the current owner acquiring the car in 2018, so have covered approximately 2,000 miles.

Accompanying the car are all of the handbooks in the original case, as well as the stamped service book. The original navigation CD is missing, and apparently unobtainable in the UK.

This Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition is a superb example of a great American sports coupe, from the final year of C6 generation production. The lightweight Z06 is already a sought-after modern classic, and this car’s rare anniversary package only serves to make it more appealing to collectors and enthusiasts. It boasts tremendous road presence, and the compelling combination of a wonderfully characterful high-capacity V8, powerful ceramic brakes, and an involving manual transmission.
