2012 AUDI R8 V10 - MANUAL

This 2012 Audi R8 V10 is a thrilling analogue supercar, which benefits from a sleek colour scheme, genuine low mileage and a number of tasteful modifications. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 525bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine, coupled to the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates just 33,335 miles from new.

First registered in May 2012, this R8 has been in the possession of its current keeper for just over two years, and there are four previous keepers on the V5C. It left the factory finished in Daytona Grey Pearl paintwork, with a black leather interior, and with options including Carbon Sigma side blades and the Magnetic Ride suspension. The car was also specified with cruise control, Audi Park System Plus with front and rear parking sensors, and it has a Bluetooth interface with integrated seat belt microphones and an Apple Lightning connector lead.

The car has been subject to a number of modifications, including the fitment of an aftermarket exhaust from Topgear in Bridport, which is fob-controlled and allows the user to adjust the tone for quiet starts or to enjoy the full V10 soundtrack. A non-standard front grille has been fitted to mimic the second-generation R8’s honeycomb grille, and the rear engine vents have been replaced with OEM black alternatives. However, the vendor notes all original parts can be supplied in the sale if requested. The appropriate registration ‘R8 VXM’ – with ‘X’ denoting ‘10’ in Roman numerals – is included in the sale.

The vendor reports some minor front damage was inflicted during a car park bump, though a new bonnet and grille have been fitted, and the front bumper has been resprayed. This was not significant damage, and the car remains HPI clear. Now, the bodywork presents in excellent condition, with flush shut lines, smooth panels and no visible evidence of the work carried out.

The condition of the Daytona Grey Pearl paintwork has been described as excellent following a professional stage two detail and the application of a ceramic coating, now presenting with no noticeable scuffs or swirl marks. The vendor has indicated a stone chip to the offside rear haunch, though the finish retains an even shine overall. The vehicle rides on a set of 19-inch five-arm twin-spoke alloy wheels, which remain in excellent condition, commensurate with the car’s low mileage.

Moving inside, the black leather upholstery remains in excellent condition, with just some very light creasing to the bolsters. The fabric headlining presents well, along with the OEM floor mats and leather-clad door cards. The exposed aluminium gear knob and gate appear free of any major scuffs, along with the main contact points on the steering wheel. The cabin comes equipped with heated seats, climate control and Audi’s Navigation Plus infotainment setup; all of which are reported to be in good working order, with no electrical issues detected.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in January 2021 at 33,133 miles, when it was fitted with new OEM front and rear brake discs and pads. Prior to this, in October 2020 at 32,896 miles, technicians at Brighton Audi carried out a major interval service, changing the engine oil and filter, before carrying out a set of underbody and fluid checks.

An oil service was also carried out by Brighton Audi in November 2019, and the team carried out a brake fluid change in June of the same year. In June 2018, an interval service and spark plug change was carried out by Carlisle Audi. A full summary is included below.

The vendor also notes all four tyre pressure sensors were replaced under warranty in early 2019, and that in February 2020, the engine intake system was carbon-cleaned by supercar performance specialist REPerformance in Swindon as a preventative measure, due to a common efficiency loss issue with FSI engines. The battery and fuel filter were also changed, in preparation for the winter months.

The most recent MOT test was on 21 May 2020 at 29,648 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. All four tyres were replaced with a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S rubber in October 2020, which are reported to have almost all of their tread depth remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner's manual, navigation system operating manual, stamped service book, R8 quick reference guide and navigation CD and case, all contained within their factory light grey suede holder. There are two original keys, and two fobs for the valved exhaust. This R8 was also fitted with a Thatcham CAT 5 immobiliser when new, using the Vodafone Protect & Connect 5 service with two fobs, which the next owner can renew the subscription to if they wish.

This Audi R8 V10 is a superb example of the marque's renowned analogue supercar, presented in excellent condition and with a comprehensive maintenance history. With the infectious soundtrack of a naturally aspirated V10, the satisfying click of the exposed manual gear shift, and surprising comfort on long journeys, this R8 V10 would make a terrific weekend toy, but could easily be put to more regular use if desired.
