2011 SMART FORTWO - 6,303 MILES

This Smart ForTwo Coupe is an exceptionally well-presented and low-mileage example of the diminutive city car. Behind the seats lies a frugal 1.0-litre petrol engine producing approximately 70bhp and 68b-ft of torque, mated to a five-speed automated manual transmission. The odometer reads a scant 6,303 miles.

Initially registered on 6 September 2011, this UK-market example is offered for sale by the trade, with just two private keepers on the V5C – though these were in fact a couple who divorced. It is in original condition throughout, having previously been stored within a garage for most of its life, and comes with both original keys.

The MHD version features an automated start-stop system with a belt-driven starter-generator, replacing both the starter motor and alternator. It also features an early regenerative braking function.

Finished in black with grey body panels, this Smart’s paintwork reflects its gentle and infrequent use to date. Small stone chips are visible to the front bumper and panel between the headlights, there is a minor scratch on the lower front bumper, and some chips are also visible on the tailgate, nearside door and nearside rear wheel arch. Overall though, the Smart is in excellent shape for a ten-year old car, with its panoramic glass roof also in excellent order. It rides on the original 15-inch alloy wheels, which are in great shape, save for a kerbing graze on the nearside front rim.

The compact cabin of the Smart is surprisingly well-appointed, with air-conditioning, electric windows and heated seats. The black leather seats remain in superb order, with minimal wear showing on the bolsters. Small scratches are visible to the plastic fixtures in the boot, with marks also visible on the roof lining. Otherwise, the Smart’s interior remains in near-showroom condition, with all controls and electrics fully operational.

The most recent service was carried out on 15 December 2020 at 6,162 miles. This saw the engine oil and oil filter replaced, as well as a replacement battery. Prior to this, the most recent documented service was carried out on 30 November 2012 at Mercedes-Benz of Brentford, though it is believed that undocumented services may have been carried out during the intervening time period.

The vendor adds that the car only travelled six miles between July 2018 and December 2020, and with only 456 miles covered since July 2017. When not in use, the Smart has always been garaged to keep it in excellent condition.

The most recent MOT test was on 15 December 2020 at 6,162 miles. This was a first-time pass with zero advisories. Riding on a set of Kumho Ecsta tyres, these are reported to be original to the car with 5mm of tread remaining.

Offering reliability, cheap running costs, and the opportunity to park in virtually any size of parking space you desire, this Smart Fortwo is also a well-specified example. With very light usage to date, it would make for a reliable daily driver in urban areas, or could simply be preserved as a very low-mileage collector-quality example.
