2011 PORSCHE 911 (997) BLACK EDITION

This 2011 Porsche 911 (997) ‘Black Edition’ is an excellent example of a limited-run sports car that has been well-maintained from new. It is powered by a 341bhp 3.6-litre flat-six engine, driven through the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 47,503 miles from new, which is fully supported by the service and MOT history.

An original right-hand drive UK-supplied car, it was first registered in May 2011. The car has had two owners prior to the vendor, who purchased it in May 2016 from Porsche Centre Portsmouth. Over the past four years, the vendor has enjoyed the car thoroughly, putting over 28,000 miles on the odometer. 

The Black paintwork is described as being in excellent overall condition, with the vendor noting only a surface scratch of approximately 1cm on the rear wheel arch. Additionally, there are a few very small stone chips to the nose. Otherwise, the bodywork and exterior trim is in very good order.

The door jambs, bonnet and boot shuts are all in great condition. The car sits on forged alloy 19-inch Turbo II wheels in a two-tone black finish, shod in 295/30 ZR19 Pirelli P Zero tyres all round, which have covered less than 1,000 miles.

Inside, the cabin features many options, including auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, a 385-watt BOSE surround-sound system, 13 loudspeakers, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a GPS navigation module. The dashboard, gear lever, air vents and SportDesign steering wheel feature aluminium-look trim, while the rear centre storage compartment is painted in the exterior colour.

The black leather seats are described as being in excellent condition, with only some light wear and a few scratches on the driver’s bolster. The back seats present superbly, with minimal marks. The black carpets are clean and appear to be unmarked. The door cards are in good condition, with a few marks on the speakers, and the badge on the glovebox shows that this is car number 0790 of 1911 Black Edition cars built.

Both the stainless steel kickplates feature the words ‘Black Edition’ painted on them, and while the passenger-side plate remains pristine, the driver’s plate does show some peeling to the paint. The boot is clean and tidy and includes its emergency triangle in a built-in compartment.

The chassis and suspension mountings are described as being in excellent condition, and the car starts, runs, and drives very well. Its last MOT test was in June 2019, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or warnings. The car has gone through regular MOT testing over the years, with just two minor fails on record: one for tyre depth in 2017, which has obviously been sorted since, and the other for the registration plate not conforming to the requirements in 2019, which again has been rectified.

The car’s last service was in June 2019, where new brake pads were installed, a full service was performed and 100-point health check for the warranty was completed. The 997 has been serviced every two years, as per Porsche’s recommendations, and the car has never missed a service. Under the vendor’s ownership, the 911 has been fully maintained by Porsche Centre Swindon, with work including installing a new alternator and drive chain, which was covered under warranty. The car is accompanied by manuals and a service booklet, outlining all of this information.

With only 1,911 produced worldwide, and just a fraction of them delivered to the UK, this 2011 Porsche 911 (997) ‘Black Edition’ represents a great opportunity for its next owner to acquire a very exclusive sports car. Beyond its limited-edition appeal, it is also a superb example of the 997 model in its own right and is ready to continue being used as a regular driver, or simply kept for occasional use on sunny weekends.
