2011 MERCEDES-BENZ SLS AMG

This Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a superb example of the marque’s acclaimed ‘gullwing’ grand tourer. Under the long bonnet is a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing 563bhp and 479lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shift. The odometer reads a scant 14,664 miles from new.

Initially registered on 30 December 2011, this SLS AMG is an original UK market example, with just one previous keeper on the V5C. It was acquired by the vendor just over seven years ago, and the appropriate cherished registration ‘V28 SLS’ is also included in the sale.

Finished in the elegant shade of Iridium Silver metallic, the paintwork on this example is believed to be entirely original. There are few if any stone chips around the front, though there is a noticeable scuff on the lower edge of the front bumper on the passenger side. The bodywork is free of dents or other damage, while the glass, badging, and aluminium fuel cap remain in excellent condition.

The show-stopping gullwing doors remain in perfect working order, rising to their maximum aperture with no faults with the hydraulic struts. Riding on a staggered set of 19-inch front and 20-inch rear diamond-cut twin-spoke alloy wheels, these are in generally excellent order with only a very minor 1cm nick on the offside rear item, a few small nicks on the nearside front wheel, and an almost imperceptible superficial mark on the nearside rear.

Inside, the SLS’ interior has aged well, and is trimmed in black leather with silver contrast stitching throughout. The electrically adjustable seats are free of rips or tears, while the infotainment system – replete with DAB digital radio, reversing camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and sat-nav remains fully-operational. Only the slightest signs of wear are visible on the steering wheel, as befitting a low-mileage car. The vendor states that there are no warning lights visible on the dashboard.

The most recent service was carried out in July 2020 at 14,587 miles by Mercedes-Benz of Brooklands. This was a Service B, entailing replacement of the brake fluid, engine oil and filter. Prior to this, a Service A was carried out in February 2019. In October 2017, the dual clutch transmission oil was changed along with a regular service.

The most recent MOT test was on 30 July 2020, which resulted in a first-time pass with zero advisories. This SLS AMG has evidently been kept in very good condition throughout its life, as it has never failed an MOT test, nor had a single advisory.

The SLS is fitted with matching Continental SportContact tyres in the staggered fitment of 265/35/ZR19 front and 295/30/ZR20 rear, with approximately 6mm of tread remaining.

Offering retro design touches allied to a thunderous naturally aspirated V8, this Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a sought-after supercar that received rave reviews in period. With its low mileage and appealing specification, it would be a credit to any collection of contemporary performance cars, and is ready for many more miles in the hands of its next owner.
