2011 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 XS

This Land Rover Defender 110 XS is an appealingly specified example of the iconic British 4x4. Under the bonnet lies a 2.4-litre inline-four turbodiesel engine, permanently driving all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 27,242 miles from new.

First registered on 29 November 2011, this Defender has been in the hands of the current private owner for nearly five years, and has been given some subtle upgrades over its factory specification. There are just two previous keepers on the V5C.

The Defender’s rugged lines are accented by the gleaming Sumatra Black finish. Believed to wear its original paint finish throughout, some stone chips are present on the bluff front end, with a minor dent also visible on the nearside front wing. The Adventure roof rack and sill side steps also show slight signs of corrosion. This example has also been upgraded with KBX grilles, LED sidelights and light bar, daytime running lights, as well as a reversing camera with sensors.

Riding on black 18-inch black alloy wheels, these are in good condition with no kerbing grazes or paint damage apparent. Some surface rust is apparent on the undercarriage as you would expect to see on a Defender of this age.

Inside, the Land Rover’s hard-wearing interior has stood up well, with its durable plastics remaining in good order. The interior switchgear, steering wheel, gear levers, and column stalks are fully operational and in good condition. The half-leather seats show modest signs of use, with some wear on the driver’s seat, and have the addition of long seat runners fitted.

Standard XS specification includes air-conditioning, heated front seats, a heated front screen and electric front windows, with this example also featuring a Pioneer Bluetooth-enabled stereo with 5-inch LED screen for greater connectivity. The rugged Defender-branded floor mats are in excellent order, and the vendor reports that everything works as it should with no dashboard warning lights illuminated.

This Defender was last serviced in January 2021 at 27,199 miles by Keith Gott, a known marque specialist. The major service included replacement of the engine oil, plus the oil, air and fuel filters. Prior oil change services were carried out in January 2018 at 21,251 miles and in January 2017 at 19,280 miles respectively. A full summary is included below.

The most recent MOT test was on 27 January 2021 at 27,242 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with only one advisory for a worn rear wiper blade. Riding on BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres, these remain in as-new condition and are said to have approximately 8mm of tread remaining.

This Land Rover Defender 110 XS is a 4x4 icon and a true modern classic. With some discerning aesthetic upgrades, and presented in good mechanical and cosmetic condition, it would be a strong candidate for a ‘go-anywhere’ daily driver, a rugged workhorse, or an adventure road trip companion.
