2011 FERRARI 458 CHALLENGE EVO

KEY FACTS

• Sensational performance on track thanks to its more focused chassis and enhanced aerodynamics.
• Its engine is the same 562bhp 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 from the Italia, coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shift - though with revised gearing to deliver more torque at lower revs.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Beyond the revised gear ratios, the 458 Challenge also sat 50mm lower than the road car on stiffer springs and track-focused shock absorbers. Composite was used for some of the body panels, including the very lightweight doors, while the side glass was swapped for polycarbonate.
• The 458 Challenge was fitted with a roll cage, motorsport-grade fuel tank, quick-lift air jacks beneath the car and lightweight centre-lock 19-inch wheels; its cabin was also stripped of sound deadening material.
• For the ‘Evoluzione’ model that arrived in 2014, Ferrari added a substantial rear wing, and there were also upgraded underbody aerodynamics and a new front splitter.
• Also features two Sabelt racing seats with six-point harnesses, a quick-release steering wheel, plumbed-in Lifeline fire extinguisher system, and tow hooks on the front and rear. 
• It comes with maintenance history, as well as four spare wheels.
• The odometer currently shows 3,385 km, but the correct mileage is 29,926 km.

CONDITION

• The car has only ever had minor cosmetic damage, as is to be expected from a racing car of its age and mileage, and any repairs have been to a very good standard.
• Its paintwork is said to be in smart condition today, with only small stone chips in the finish.
• The interior presents well, with no heavy wear to the bucket seats. Some of the cabin's carbon trim is slightly scratched and marked in places.
• There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Its last maintenance was just 100km ago, when it had a full service as well as overhaul of the gearbox at RAM Ferrari.
• The vendor reports that it has always been kept in excellent mechanical condition, with regular servicing as required.

SUMMARY

This Ferrari 458 Challenge with the Evoluzione kit is a superb modern racer, which is presented in excellent condition throughout. Having been a track driving school car for the last four years, it benefits from regular use and maintenance to keep it in good order. While it would be a rare addition to any collection, it would make a great choice for someone who wants to fully enjoy its performance on circuits as often as possible.
