2011 AUDI R8 V8 SPYDER

This Audi R8 Spyder is an attractive, low-mileage example of the marque’s first convertible supercar. Under the bonnet is a 4.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 producing 414bhp and 317lb-ft of torque, mated to the desirable six-speed manual gearbox and Audi’s hallmark Quattro all-wheel drive system. The odometer reads 43,371 miles.

Initially registered on 27 June 2011, this UK-market R8 has been in the hands of the most recent private owner for the last five years, with six owners in total. This was a 71-year-old gentleman, and the R8 was his pride and joy. It has been kept in original condition throughout, with an excellent service history.

The Audi’s clean yet striking lines are highlighted by the appealing Ibis White finish. The paintwork is reported to be in excellent condition, and the badging and light lenses remain in good condition. Blemishes are very minor, and include a chip in the top corner of the passenger door handle, which is clearly shown in the photo gallery. Some small gravel chips are also visible around the trailing edges of the wheel arches from road use. Overall though, it is clear this R8 presents superbly.

The black electrically-powered soft top motors open and close without fault, and the material fits snugly to the frame when shut. The fabric is undamaged and remains watertight. Its diamond-cut alloys are in generally good order, with just a few kerb grazes that are again clearly displayed in the gallery below.

Inside, the R8’s beautifully finished interior remains in very good condition, with the black leather seats showing only the slightest signs of wear and creasing on the bolsters. The steering wheel and gear knob both show wear commensurate with the mileage, with the latter having the common surface scratches from ring contact. The screen of the Audi Navigation Plus system is also slightly worn, but the display is clear and legible when illuminated. All of the interior buttons, switches and electrical items are described as working without fault.

The most recent service was carried out by Towse Motors in January 2020 at 40,170 miles. This was an oil and filter change, with the car similarly receiving an annual service in January of each year since 2017. The vendor has also fitted new tyres and attended to the brakes during their five years of ownership.

The most recent MOT test was on 8 December 2020 at 43,400 miles. This was a clean pass following rectification of a faulty rear fog light, with the tester noting only the presence of the factory-fitted undertrays. The wheels are shod in matching Pirelli tyres on all four corners.

Offering a fantastic design with road presence in spades, this all-original and well-maintained Audi R8 Spyder is made all the more appealing by the presence of three pedals. While its low mileage and history would make it a welcome addition to any collection, the aural symphony provided by the naturally aspirated V8 makes it a superb companion on the open road.
