2011 ASTON MARTIN CYGNET

This Aston Martin Cygnet is a rare and luxuriously trimmed city car presented in superb condition throughout. It is powered by a reliable 1.3-litre petrol inline-four, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 31,760 miles from new.

Built as an unusual but refined urban transport for its city-dwelling customers, the Cygnet is based around the Toyota IQ, sharing its platform and drivetrain - but it has a raft of bespoke Aston Martin finishes. The bonnet, door skins, wings, light units and bumpers are unique to the model, as is the smart single-piece grille. Inside, the cabin was re-upholstered using the same high-grade leather that the marque features in their high-performance GTs.

First registered in May 2011, this Cygnet has five previous registered keepers on the log book, and it was acquired by the seller in January 2016.

Its bodywork presents in excellent condition, with flush shut lines and tight panel gaps. There is no evidence of any prior damage, and the only blemish noted in the Grey Bull paint finish is a chip on one of the sills. All of the brightwork is in great shape, as are the 16-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels. The bonnet vents and badges are finished with a gloss black theme.

In the cabin, the car is unrecognisable from the model that underpins it, with lashings of Spicy Red and black leather that has been expertly finished to typical Aston Martin interior standards. There are signs of light use on the driver’s seat, but otherwise the trim all looks superb. Factory-fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, heated front seats, push-button start, and removable sat-nav. The rear seats also split and fold down to provide a bigger boot space when needed.

This Cygnet is fresh from a service and vehicle health check at Aston Martin Leeds on 2 September 2020, with no items of concern flagged. The seller also reports that it has received regular servicing prior to this throughout its life to date.

The most recent MOT was on 14 May 2020 at 30,623 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. In January 2019, the car failed on front tyre defects and worn front brake pads, which it is understood were all rectified. It has Bridgestone tyres on the rear axle and Nexen items at the front. There are also two keys present.

This Aston Martin Cygnet is a distinctive urban runabout that is also remarkably rare, with only around 100 examples believed to have been sold new in the UK. It was undoubtedly a gamble for Aston to work with Toyota, but ultimately the Cygnet has proven itself to be of interest to collectors and enthusiasts alike. Presented in impressive condition, and with the compelling offer of luxury GT ambience and easy urban practicality, this is a fun and very well-appointed city car.

All cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and has no finance owing.
