2010 TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE SCRAMBLER CUSTOM

This 2010 Triumph Bonneville is a fully customised street scrambler, featuring bespoke paintwork and a large number of creative modifications. It is equipped with its original 865cc air-cooled parallel-twin engine – which has had a performance upgrade – coupled with the factory five-speed manual transmission. The bike has covered approximately 3,600 miles from new.

First registered in January 2010 as a stock standard Bonneville Scrambler, its one and only private owner enjoyed it sparingly, only covering approximately 3,500 miles in the first nine years of ownership. It wasn’t until 2019 when he was introduced to the outstanding work of the highly respected Sickboyz Customs that the bike took on its current look.

Sickboyz Customs is a multi-award-winning custom motorcycle manufacturer based in Surrey, specialising in one-off fabricated builds and bespoke paintwork, and the workshop has been featured on ‘The Motorbike Show’ on ITV4 and is well known within the UK custom bike industry. The changes to this Bonneville include bespoke springer forks, an extended rear swingarm, Ohlin rear shock absorbers, a Power Commander exhaust, uprated brake callipers and LED indicators, as well as a custom headlamp and rear lights.

The vendor indicates the bodywork and frame of this Bonneville have never sustained any damage. Since the customisation, the bike has only covered 80 miles, as it has been on display in the vendor’s office. Its striking blue custom paint job presents very well, with a second glance confirming that the aged appearance including faked ‘rust’ patches on the fuel tank are all part of the skilful paint effect. Much of the bike’s mechanical elements are finished in satin black, while the other exterior components complement the colour scheme superbly. The wire spoke front and rear wheels are in excellent condition, with no scuffs or chips.

This Bonneville has also been fitted with a one-off brown leather saddle with matching brown leather handlebars, all of which presents in superb order, adding a tailored touch to this custom scrambler. The vendor indicates the various controls and switches work as they should, with no electrical issues or other faults. The original analogue speedometer was removed as part of the work that Sickboyz undertook, with a more discreet digital display now fitted instead, which confirms the mileage since customisation of 80 miles.

While all of the bespoke work was carried out by Sickboyz Customs in 2019, the bike was subject to routine maintenance in 2012, 2014 and 2015 to keep it in good running order. A new battery has recently been fitted.

The most recent MOT test was on 15 December 2020, which resulted in a pass with no advisories or defects. The bike initially failed a test earlier the same day due to a contaminated front brake disc and pad, as well as the yokes and forks not turning freely when tightened, and an incorrect headlamp aim. However, these issues were rectified, with the front section joints stripped and spaced correctly. A set of lock stops also needed fitting, which was carried out.

The vendor notes the bike is fitted with new tyres front and back, which are in excellent condition. Accompanying the scrambler are all of the factory supplied handbooks, manuals and warranty documents, as well as corresponding invoices, MOT certificates and two keys.

This Triumph Bonneville has been described by its owner as “a unique eye-catching custom scrambler”, and it is certainly an attention-grabbing one-off. Its modifications extend not only to the custom appearance, but also to notable performance improvements, meaning that this Bonneville is as fun to ride as it is to look at. A guaranteed conversation starter among fellow enthusiasts, this scrambler would make a great two-wheeler to exhibit at shows, and an exciting companion for weekend road trips.
