This Renaultsport Clio 200 is a well-presented and maintained example of the marque’s final naturally-aspirated variant of the iconic hot hatch, offered for sale by its only owner from new. Driving the front wheels is the ‘F4R’ engine producing 197bhp and 159lb ft of torque, allied to a short-ratio six-speed gearbox. The odometer reads 48,566 miles from new.
An original, UK-market car, this Clio 200 was first registered on 2 September 2010 and has had just one keeper during this time.
Produced in Glacier White, the paintwork on this Clio is in excellent condition having been ceramic coated with Max Protect in January 2019. There are two stone chips visible on the front bumper on the lower left-hand side and the bonnet. There are minor indentations on the driver’s door outer edge. The vendor also notes similar scratching on the outer edge of the passenger door, as well as a couple of scuffs on the door panel.
The glass, plastic badging and black rear diffuser are in very good condition, highlighting the care and attention this car has received to date.
The Clio is riding on its original 17in Speedline multi-spoke alloy wheels which are also in good condition having been refurbished at the same time as the ceramic coating was applied.
Being a ‘Full Fat’ model of the Clio 200, this car benefits from accoutrements including climate control, keyless entry and go, power folding mirrors and electric windows. The seller advises that everything works, except for the lock button on the outside passenger door handle.
The Clio’s Renaultsport-stitched bucket seats are in good order, with no rips, tears or staining present. The plastic dashboard and its trims have resisted the scratching which can be common in these cars, though there are minor scratches on the top of the gearknob from a ring finger.
This Clio has benefited from regular and timely maintenance to date, with a comprehensive service folder. The most recent service was carried out at Yatton Garage Services at 48,559 miles where it had an oil and filter change.
In February 2018, the Clio’s cambelt, tensioner and water pump were replaced, while in March 2017 the larger 45k mile service was undertaken. During the owner’s tenure, the keyless entry door handle was also replaced under warranty.
The most recent MOT test was on 1 September 2020 at 48,559 miles, carried out on the same day of the Clio’s last service. This resulted in a pass, with advisories for the rear brake discs, which were not replaced as there is a minimum of 6-8mm thickness remaining on both.
Riding on a mix of Continental SportContact 5 and Hankook Ventus Prime tyres, these are of the correct size for the Clio and have between 5-7mm of tread remaining.
The car comes complete with its full complement of handbooks, stamped service history, Renault spare bulb pack and inbuilt toolkit including towing eye, locking wheel nuts and jack. The only upgrades to the car are the inclusion of an Alpine Bluetooth stereo and K&N performance air filter.
Combining a rev-hungry engine and a remarkable chassis, this Clio 200 offers big driving thrills on a small budget. This well-maintained and highly original example will offer its next owner years of pleasure on their favourite B-roads and tracks, all to the charming sound of its naturally-aspirated engine.
