This 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder is a rare and exciting open-top sports car, presented in a desirable factory specification. Equipped with a 320bhp 3.4-litre flat-six engine, it also features the sought-after six-speed manual transmission. Its features match the example shown at the 2009 Los Angeles Motor Show – Carrera White paintwork with a black interior, black alloy wheels, black body decals and even the red painted brake calipers. The car has covered just 19,614 miles from new.
An original UK-delivered, right-hand drive example, this Boxster Spyder was first registered in March 2010. It has just one previous keeper and the current owner purchased the car eight years ago. Having enjoyed some 12,000 miles behind the wheel, he is now offering it for sale via auction to its next owner.
Compared to a Boxster S of the same era, the Spyder is around 80kg lighter, thanks in part to the use of aluminium for the door panels and engine cover, as well as weight-saving touches such as fabric door handle pulls. Its suspension is also firmer, sits 20mm lower, and the engine output is 10bhp higher.
The vendor reports that the Carrera White paintwork is in excellent condition, with just a handful of small stone chips to the front end and wing mirrors that are pointed out in the media gallery. It sits on a set of lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels, which are in very good order. The photos show a couple of minor kerb grazes visible to the nearside rims. The manually-attached fabric roof is pristine, with no rips or tears and still exhibits a deep black hue.
In the cabin, this 987 Boxster Spyder features the carbon-fibre sports bucket seats, which remain in very good condition. They are trimmed in black leather with grey stitching and Alcantara centre panels. There are a couple of scuffs on the leather trim next to the roll bars, minor wear to the driver’s seat bolster, and a few chips in the leather on the passenger seat – all of which are shown in the media gallery.
The carpets and Porsche overmats are all in excellent condition. In the rear boot, the removable wind deflector is still with the car and is stored in its original protective bag. The factory specification for this car includes the optional sound system and cup holders.
The media gallery includes dozens of photos showing the superb condition of the door shuts and jambs, as well as the underside of the boot and bonnet lids, and all of the ancillary items beneath the panels in the front and rear sections. This is a car that has been enjoyed but that has also been fastidiously looked after.
Its maintenance from new is documented in the original stamped service booklet. It was serviced at Porsche main dealers in 2012 and 2014 – the latter including renewal of the spark plugs and brake fluid. It was subsequently serviced at independent specialist Sports and Classic in Cheshire in both 2018 and 2019. The former included replacement of the cambelt, as well as a fresh set of spark plugs and new brake fluid.
It is presented in superb mechanical order for the next owner, with the instrument cluster menu confirming that there is nearly two years (or around 19,400 miles) until the next service is due. The only upgrade from factory specification is the fitment of a Soul Performance sports exhaust system.
The car’s last MOT was in May 2019 at 19,117 miles, which resulted in an advisory for wear to both rear tyres. The vendor believes that all four tyres have around 3mm of tread remaining.
A comprehensive history file accompanies this car, including all of the original sales literature, owner’s manual and stamped service booklet. Numerous old MOT certificates and invoices for all previous maintenance are present, along with the two original keys.
This Porsche Boxster Spyder is one of fewer than 130 UK examples equipped with the manual transmission, and is ready to excite and delight a new owner with its no-compromise approach to open-top driving pleasure.
Please note: the personalised plate shown on the car is not included in the sale. It will be switched back to an age-related registration plate in the event of a successful auction.
