2010 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 SOFT TOP CUSTOM

Featuring a professional soft top conversion and a number of custom touches, this Land Rover Defender 90 is a unique example of the dependable 4x4, which is presented in excellent condition both inside and out. It is powered by the 2.4-litre ‘Puma’ TDCI inline-four, which drives all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with a lockable centre differential. The odometer displays just 45,114 miles from new.

First registered on 25 May 2010, this Defender 90 started life as a Pick Up model, but was converted to its current open-top configuration after being acquired by the seller around one year ago.

As well as removing the upper side panels and roof, a full rear cage was fitted and the entire vehicle was resprayed in an original Land Rover shade of blue, before various other modifications and unique touches were added, including its LED lights and smart black accents. The interior was also overhauled, with the addition of tan leather seats and trim items from Land Rover specialist Lucari Solutions.

Thanks to its in-depth restoration, this Defender’s bodywork is in great shape, with no reported accident damage and straight, even shut lines. Having been professionally resprayed, the blue paintwork is described by the seller as being in outstanding condition, while black accents provide an appealing contrast.

Provided by Exmoor Trim, the black soft top fits snugly over its frame, and there are no rips, tears or signs of fading to the fabric. Extensively but subtly modified, this robust off-roader features a number of unique touches. Its front and rear lights have been changed for LED units, and custom-made LED fog lights have also been mounted in the front bumper.

An aftermarket black front grille and light surrounds have also been fitted, along with matching black badges and chequer plate panels, which have been fitted to the tops of the wings and the sills.

The underbody has also been tended to, having been fully undersealed to help prevent any damage or corrosion. This Land Rover rides on a set of 16-inch ‘Sawtooth’ alloy wheels, which present extremely well, with no signs of damage or scratches to their gloss black paintwork.

While Defenders are usually known for their somewhat utilitarian interiors, this custom example has an extra touch of class, having been fitted with front and rear seats from Lucari Solutions, which are upholstered in fluted tan leather. In addition, the front seats are heated, and all six are free of any noticeable blemishes or wear to their surfaces.

The central armrest and dashboard trims have also been recovered in matching tan leather, and the whole cabin presents very well throughout. Given the Land Rover’s remit as a tough all-terrain vehicle, it’s reassuring that this example has been fitted with a full rear cage should things get a little adventurous, while its full set of Land Rover-branded rubber mats help to protect the interior from more day-to-day wear.

Entertainment is provided via a Sony radio/CD player, and the seller reports that there are no faults with any of the car’s buttons, switches or electrical items, and that there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This robust 4x4’s most recent routine maintenance was a full service, which was carried out in December 2020 at 45,108 miles by G&D Auto Services LTD. Prior to this, the vehicle was serviced in July 2018 at 40,165 miles by Grove Hill Garage Ltd, and in July 2017 at 36,619 miles by Ribblesdale Land Rover.

Its latest MOT test was conducted on 30 November 2020 at an indicated 45,038 miles, resulting in a first-time pass with no advisories. All four wheels are fitted with BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tyres, which the seller states are brand-new.

Accompanying this Defender is its original document wallet containing the owner’s manual, warranty documents and service book, plus documentation of its service history.

Presented in near-showroom condition, this Land Rover Defender 90 has been restored and customised to offer a true ‘wind in the hair’ soft top experience, while its interior has been fully updated to offer levels of comfort not usually associated with these hardy machines.
