2010 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 HARD TOP

This Land Rover Defender 90 Hard Top is a sound example of the iconic 4x4, which has had only two keepers from new and is in excellent cosmetic condition. It is powered by the 2.4-litre four-cylinder TDCI engine, which has been remapped to produce around 160bhp. This powers all four wheels via a six-speed transmission with a lockable centre differential and selectable low-range gearing for superior off-road performance. The odometer displays 72,018 miles from new.

First registered on 18 February 2010, this Defender’s log book lists just only one previous keeper, who owned the car for nine years. It was acquired by the most recent private owner in February 2019, and is now offered by the trade. Despite its utility design, this Defender has been run and maintained as regular on-road road transport rather a workhorse.

This Land Rover’s bodywork is presented in excellent condition, with straight panels and no signs of dents or other accident damage. Both the original Tamar Blue paintwork and the characteristic white finish on the roof are described by the vendor as being in superb order for the car’s age, and there are only minor chips that have been touched in and are now barely noticeable.

While it is almost entirely unmodified, the exterior has been enhanced with some aftermarket touches, including KBX air intakes on the tops and sides of the wings, and a front steering guard for additional protection. This Defender 90 rides on the correct set of 16-inch five-spoke ‘Boost’ alloy wheels, which are in great shape, with no signs of scrapes or kerb damage.

Inside, the two front seats are clad in their original black upholstery, which is in very good order, protected by a pair of seat covers as shown in the photos. The driver’s seat has also been raised to improve visibility. This Defender originally featured a bulkhead directly behind the front seats, however this has been removed and the lower section has been reinforced to prevent any loss of rigidity. The result is a larger open cabin area, and a rear bench seat has been fitted, transforming this two-seat utility vehicle into a practical family car.

All of the trim presents very well, and entertainment is provided via an aftermarket Kenwood CD player with aux-in connectivity. The vendor states that there are no known faults with the controls, switches or other electrics and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Sympathetically used and frequently serviced, this Land Rover is reported to be running and driving well. Its last routine maintenance was carried out on 10 September 2020 at 71,063 miles by independent Land Rover specialist Beyond Performance 4x4, Mallusk. As well as performing a full service, the front brake discs, pads and callipers were replaced.

Prior to this, the car was serviced in May 2019 at 54,559 miles and in November 2018 at 50,704 miles. A full summary is included below. Routine maintenance items such as new track rod ends, rear brakes, and replacement drive shaft seals have also been fitted.

To provide this Defender 90 with a little more grunt, Land Rover performance specialist Alive Tuning performed a Stage 1 power upgrade, boosting the engine’s output from 122bhp to 160bhp.

The last MOT test in Northern Ireland was carried out in February 2020, and the vendor reports that there were no warnings or alerts about the car’s condition.

All four wheels are fitted with General Grabber RT all-terrain tyres in size 235/85 R16, which are described as being in excellent condition.

Accompanying this British icon are all of its original handbooks contained in the correct folder, two sets of keys and various invoices for previous servicing work.

This Land Rover Defender 90 Hard Top has been used and enjoyed by just two private owners, who have kept the car in good order, treating it more like a cherished private car than a utility vehicle. With its enhanced power output and more sociable cabin space, this smart 4x4 is ready to continue in faithful service, whether as a smart runabout or to take off road.
