2010 FERRARI CALIFORNIA

This 2010 Ferrari California is a striking convertible grand tourer, presented in the classic pairing of Rosso Corsa over Crema leather, and is in strong mechanical order. It its powered by a 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V8, which sends 453bhp to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters. The odometer displays just 28,305 miles from new.

Introduced in 2008, the California was the marque’s first car with a front-mounted V8, the first to feature a dual-clutch transmission, and its first to include a folding metal convertible roof – which can deploy in just 14 seconds. First registered in March 2010, this example’s logbook lists three prior keepers from new, and the car’s current owner acquired it nearly three years ago.

Today, the all-aluminium bodywork is in very good shape, with tight panel gaps and no signs of accident damage; though there is a small dent on the driver’s side of its folding metal roof. The Rosso Corsa paintwork has a vibrant appearance, and is in good overall condition, with the front bumper benefitting from a respray in the past to correct a number of stone chips. Elsewhere, there are various marks and chips to the finish, and some visible paint damage on the roof, commensurate with a car that has been used like any other vehicle over the last 10 years rather than laid up in a storage facility.

The car rides on a set of 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which have some kerb grazes and scuffs to their finish, so would benefit from refurbishment to improve the appearance. Its ceramic brakes have yellow painted callipers, and it was also specified from the factory with recessed Scuderia wing shields.

Stepping inside, the cabin is upholstered in supple Crema leather with red stitching, which shows some general signs of wear and tear from use, but could be easily improved by a re-connolising treatment. Both of the seats are electrically adjustable and heated, and feature diamond-stitched centre sections. There are creases and surface cracks on both, with some heavier wear and discolouration on the driver’s side in particular. The bottom edge of the seatbelt guide loop has also torn away from the upholstery below. There are also marks and indentations on the rear of the passenger seat and the shelf behind, and the upper edge of the driver’s door card is stained. The car features the ‘2+0’ seating configuration, making it a more practical long-distance tourer for two occupants and their luggage.

Elsewhere, the interior trim is in good order, though the grey central ‘bridge’ which houses the electric window and roof controls is lightly marked. Factory-fitted equipment includes dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation, phone integration, memory settings for the driver’s seat, and front and rear parking sensors. All of the car’s buttons and other electrical items currently work as they should; however, the seller notes that the TPMS warning light is illuminated on the dashboard.

Serviced by Ferrari main dealers from new, this car’s latest maintenance was a minor oil service, which was carried out in January 2019 at 22,472 miles by Lancaster Ferrari Colchester. Prior to this, Lancaster Ferrari performed a major service in March 2018 at 17,433 miles when the engine oil, filters, brake fluid, compressor control belt, and water pump control belt were changed; and a minor service was carried out in January 2017 at 11,302 miles.

Its last MOT test was conducted on 6 February 2021 at 28,259 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass, with advisories noting that the edges of both front tyres are worn close to the legal limit. The rear tyres reportedly have sufficient tread, while the front tyres would benefit from replacement in the near future.

This California will be accompanied by its original handbooks contained in their correct leather document wallet, as well as a replacement service book and invoices for its last three services.

This low-mileage Ferrari California is an appealing exotic grand tourer, which combines impressive pace and remarkable comfort in a stylish package. Presented in the ever-popular hue of Rosso Corsa with a Crema leather interior, it brings a touch of Italian flair to any occasion. While it would now benefit from some cosmetic attention to its interior and paintwork, it is reported to be in good mechanical health, and is therefore ready to enjoy immediately.
