2010 FERRARI CALIFORNIA

This Ferrari California is a stunning example of an exotic and exciting convertible, presented in a very rare colour scheme, and with comprehensive history. It is powered by a 453bhp 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V8, coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift. The odometer shows just 24,481 miles from new.

The California’s body and chassis are made entirely from aluminium, including the neat folding metal roof, which can deploy in just 14 seconds. Carbon-ceramic brake discs are fitted as standard, and thanks to the car’s Launch Control function, Ferrari quoted a performance figure of 0-62mph in less than four seconds, not to mention a top speed of 193mph.

Specified from the factory in special-order pearlescent Blu Abu Dhabi, the car features a full cream leather interior, along with blue carpets. There were a number of options totalling more than £20,000 added to the car, including MagneRide suspension, 20-inch lightweight forged wheels, Scuderia wing shields, AFS headlights, and heated seats. Other features include power holding and heated door mirrors, a yellow rev counter, tyre pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, and the NavTrak Category 5 security system.

First registered in March 2010, there are four previous registered keepers on the log book, and the car has evidently been cherished throughout its life. The seller has owned the car for the last year, and has enjoyed around 2,500 miles behind the wheel. For bidders’ peace of mind, a 12-month AutoGuard warranty is included for the next owner.

The bodywork and paint are in excellent condition, with the seller noting only a minor stone chip on the bonnet. Its front bumper is in great shape, with few if any small ‘road rash’ chips from road use. The shut lines are flush, and the panel gaps are consistent. All of the glass windows and light lenses are in great shape, and the wing shields also present smartly. The car rides on the optional 20-inch five-spoke forged alloy wheels with a diamond-cut finish, which are pristine.

In the cabin, the cream leather upholstery is in superb condition throughout, with no damage or defects to the seat trim. The only note from the seller is that there is very minor discolouration on the driver’s side seat bolster. There is full electric seat adjustment for both front occupants, as well as memory settings for the driver. All of the switchgear presents well, and works as it should.

This car has comprehensive Ferrari main dealer history from new, with the last scheduled maintenance taking place in February 2019 at 21,800 miles. This consisted of an annual service at Lancaster Colchester, along with new tyres, and a replacement parking sensor. Prior to this, it was seen in July 2017 at 20,798 miles, and in July 2016 at 19,597 miles - both at Maranello Egham.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 15 May 2019 at 21,976 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. With the six-month extension due to Covid-19, the certificate is still valid until 14 November 2020. Its wheels are shod in Pirelli P Zero tyres in size 245/35 ZR20 at the front and 285/35 ZR20 at the rear. They were fitted just over a year ago, and have approximately 5mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying this car are all of the original books, including the owner’s manual, stamped maintenance record, and the dealer directory. There are numerous old service receipts and MOT certificates, and all original tools are still stored under the boot floor, along with the air compressor. An indoor car cover and battery conditioner are also included, as well as two keys.

At launch, Evo magazine said of this model: “As well as being faster than it has any real right to be, the California is also the owner of a formidably well-sorted chassis and extremely stiff body structure that doesn’t flex, shimmy or shake, however rough the road surface,” concluding, “Fact is, the California does hold up as a real, red-blooded Ferrari, and quite magnificently”.

This Ferrari California is a compelling blend of comfortable grand tourer and hard-charging supercar. It is presented in a rare ‘Extra Campionario’ factory hue, and has been kept in superb cosmetic and mechanical condition. A great opportunity to acquire an elegant and thrilling convertible, this charismatic V8 is ready to relish in summer weather with the top down.

Please note: the cherished plate shown on the car is not included in the sale. It will be switched back to an age-related registration in the event of a successful auction. The car is currently covered by a finance agreement, but this will be cleared before handing over to the next owner.
