2010 BMW (E92) M3 ALPINE EDITION

This BMW M3 Alpine Edition is a very smart example of a thrilling high-performance coupe, with a superb factory specification. Its engine is the 414bhp 4.0-litre naturally aspirated S65 V8, coupled to the seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission. The odometer shows just 52,597 miles from new.

First registered in March 2010, this is one of the special BMW M3 'Edition' cars, which came as standard with the lowered sport suspension setup. It was specified in the Alpine White hue, and the extra features of the model included 19-inch forged wheels, bespoke interior trim, and black finishes around the body. There are five previous keepers on the log book, and the current owner acquired the car just under a year ago, covering 2,000 miles since then.

The body panels are reported to be in excellent condition, with no scrapes, dents or rust spots, and the Alpine White paint finish is in very good order. The seller reports only a handful of small stone chips on the bonnet, as well as some around the rear wheel arch on the bumper panel. It is fitted with the optional carbon-fibre M Performance front splitters and boot lid spoiler, which are free of cracks and chips, and the lightweight carbon-fibre roof is also in great shape. The car rides on the gloss black 10-arm double-spoke 19-inch forged M alloy wheels, which present very well.

In the cabin, there is black Novillo leather upholstery with white stripe detailing and stitching, which is unique to the Edition cars. The leather on the armrests between the seats and on the doors is colour-matched to the bodywork. While there is some light wear visible on the driver’s seat side bolster, in general the trim is in superb condition throughout. The electrically adjustable sport seats are heated, and feature memory settings for the driver.

The dashboard and door panels are accented by carbon-effect textured leather trim, and there are Edition-specific chequered flag sill cover plates. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and the BMW Professional media system.

The car has excellent BMW maintenance history from new, including the important running-in service carried out in April 2010 at 1,074 miles. Its last scheduled visit was in March 2020 at 52,023 miles, at Marshall BMW in Salisbury. This consisted of a brake fluid service, along with renewal of the rear brake discs and pads, and replacement of the offside rear caliper.

In September 2019 at 50,353 miles, Marshall BMW Salisbury carried out an engine oil service and microfilter renewal, and re-balanced the front wheels. Prior to this, it was seen and serviced by MVT BMW in Poole in October 2017 at 41,123 miles. A full summary of the maintenance history is included below.

The most recent MOT test was on 5 March 2020 at 52,030 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. The wheels are fitted with Michelin tyres all round. The 245/35 ZR19 Pilot Sport items at the front are date-coded to 2017, while the 265/35 ZR19 Pilot Super Sport tyres at the rear were manufactured in 2019. All four have plenty of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the complete book pack in the original wallet, including the owner’s manual and the stamped maintenance record. The tyre inflator kit is also present, stored under the boot floor.

The E92 M3 with the DCT gearbox is a great all-rounder, as CAR magazine reported at the launch of the Edition model: “Equipped with our car’s double-clutch semi-auto transmission, the M3 is even more versatile, acting as both a smooth auto, and a fast-firing manual that puts the clunky sequential manual M5 to shame”.

This BMW M3 Alpine Edition is a superb performance car, and a bona fide modern classic as well. The first and last V8-engined M3, the E92’s high-revving engine makes it a joy to drive, and this car is in excellent mechanical order. Equally well suited to being an occasional fun car as it is to being a daily driver, this is a wonderful example of the breed.

Please note: the cherished plate shown on the car is not included in the sale. It will be switched back to an age-related registration plate in the event of a successful auction. The car is currently covered by a finance agreement, but this will be cleared before handing over to the next owner.
