2009 RENAULTSPORT CLIO 200

This 2009 Renaultsport Clio 200 is a great example of the hugely impressive hot hatch, presented with low mileage and in a vibrant factory colour scheme. Under the bonnet is the 197bhp 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, driving the front wheels via a slick six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer shows just 38,781 miles from new.

First registered on 14 July 2009, there are just two previous registered keepers on the log book. The car's first keeper was in fact Renault UK, which ordered it as a high-specification press car for its fleet. It is now being offered for sale by its current owner, who has enjoyed around 800 miles behind the wheel over the past year.

This Clio’s bodywork is finished in eye-popping Liquid Yellow paint, a signature Renaultsport hue which highlights the car’s sharp lines and flared wheel arches, while also setting it apart from the crowd. The paint finish is in great shape with a smooth and glossy appearance throughout, though the front and rear bumpers have previously been resprayed to rectify a few small scuffs. The seller also notes that there is a ding on the passenger door sill, as well as some minor marks and scratches.

All of the panel gaps appear straight and even and the headlight lenses are clear and bright, with no signs of damage or hazing. The car rides on its original 17-inch 12-spoke alloy wheels, which all present very well, with no evidence of kerb damage or other marks.

Looking to the interior, dark grey leather covers the front and rear seats, accented by white stitching and ‘Renault Sport’ embroidery on the front headrests. While there is creasing visible on the driver’s outer seat bolsters, this is minor and is commensurate with the car’s age and mileage. It is also noted that the leather steering wheel may benefit from being retrimmed for a factory-fresh appearance, and there is some wear to the plastic boot trim – however the boot lining has been replaced with a new item.

Mechanically, this Clio 200 is in very good order, and has been well cared-for by its current owner, who carried out a basic service at 37,000 miles which included an oil change, new oil filter, and replacement of the spark plugs and air filter.

The seller has also previously had the gearbox refurbished and the clutch has been replaced, with receipts on file as evidence of the work done. It is also noted that a previous keeper had the cam belt changed approximately two years ago. This Clio 200 is accompanied by partial service history records and all of its original handbooks.

Its last MOT test was on 10 December 2019 at 38,489 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with a few advisories. These included some slight play in the nearside rear wheel bearing, nearside front inner steering rack joints, and nearside front suspension arm ball joint. It was also noted that the offside front wheel was slightly distorted. The car’s wheels are fitted with budget tyres in size 215/45 ZR17. All four appear to be in good condition with no cracks and ample tread remaining.

Simple, engaging and most importantly great fun to drive; it checks all of the boxes while remaining as practical as any other three-door hatchback. This low-mileage example has been thoroughly enjoyed, and is presented in good condition throughout, making it an appealing prospect for any enthusiast’s collection.
