2009 PORSCHE 911 (997.2) GT3 CLUBSPORT - LHD

This Porsche 997.2 GT3 Clubsport is a wonderfully engaging contemporary 911, which is presented in excellent condition throughout. Under the engine lid is a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated ‘Mezger’ flat-six, producing 435bhp, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates 71,000 km (44,117 miles) from new.

First registered in June 2009, this left-hand drive European market GT3 is understood to have had three previous owners before the vendor. The car’s second owner is understood to have been Austrian footballer Martin Stranzl. The present Dutch owner acquired the car around two years ago, enjoying touring trips through the Alps and Dolomites in the car since then, and has kept to Porsche’s maintenance schedule.

Its bodywork is presented in excellent condition, with no known accident damage. The panels and paint are therefore assumed to be all original, and today it presents with just the usual slightly stone chipping around the front end from road use, as well as some heavier scuffs on the plastic front splitter - which of course would be inexpensive to replace in the future.

The car rides on 19-inch centre-lock GT3 alloys, which are in pristine condition, and which house the optional carbon ceramic brake discs (PCCB) and yellow callipers. Currently fitted to the car is a Sharkwerks rear silencer and tail pipes, but the vendor states that these can be removed before handover to the next owner if required.

The cabin presents in superb order, with black leather trims for the dashboard and door caps, and Alcantara for the steering wheel rim, gear knob, door panels and headlining. The seats are lightweight Carrera GT-style items, upholstered in black fabric. The vendor reports that the interior is in outstanding condition throughout, with no damage or notable wear.

Factory-fitted equipment includes PCM, mobile phone preparation with Bluetooth, and the upgraded sound system. The car has also received an audio upgrade from Brian’s Custom Audio in the Netherlands, while retaining all of the original Porsche speaker covers and touchscreen control.

Mechanically, this 997.2 is reported to be in very good order, with the last scheduled maintenance having been carried out in June 2019 at 68,517 km, by Porsche Centrum Gelderland in the Netherlands. Prior to this, it was seen in June 2017 at 57,833 km by Porsche Zentrum Niederrhein in Germany, and the vendor reports that it has always been kept to the recommended two-year servicing schedule.

The most recent Dutch roadworthiness test (APK) was carried out in June 2020, and there were no faults or warnings recorded. In the same month, four new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres were fitted, which remain in as-new condition.

Accompanying the car are all of the original handbooks, including the maintenance record, as well as lots of invoices and receipts going back to the first owner’s tenure. The vendor reports that there is a very good history folder with the car.

This Porsche 997.2 GT3 Clubsport is a superb road and track car. At launch, Evo magazine in the UK called it “one of the best drivers’ 911s ever – fantastically tactile, irresistibly engaging and fitted with one of the most thrilling flat-sixes Porsche has ever built”. This particular example has evidently been well maintained, and is ready to thrill its next owner – whether that is on an epic road trip through the continent, or lapping one of their favourite circuits.
