2009 PORSCHE 911 (997.2) CARRERA 2S

From an era of 911 viewed by many as ‘just right’, with a smaller footprint than the latest models yet plenty of technology and trademark Porsche finesse, this is a superb example of the 997.2 Carrera S in a smart specification. It is powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six producing 380bhp, coupled to the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and features the desirable Sport Chrono option.

The introduction of the 997.2 in 2009 saw extensive upgrades over the outgoing 997.1, from styling changes to engine revisions, as well as the introduction of a PDK gearbox option as specified in this car. This transmission further adds to the famous capability and duality of the 911, going from a thoroughbred sports car to a comfortable daily driver with ease. Finished in Basalt Black with black interior and black wheels, this 997.2 is not short of road presence.

First registered in March 2009, the car has had only three previous registered keepers from new and has been owned by the seller for around two years. During this time the car has covered around 10,000 miles, and the total on the odometer now stands at 65,812 miles.

The condition of the bodywork is reported as excellent, with only a few stone chips to the Basalt Black paintwork as one would expect. The gloss black 19-inch SportDesign wheels are free of kerbing marks, and the wheel bolts are all in good order. The alloys are accented by bright red painted brake calipers behind them.

This 911 is equipped with the desirable hard-backed Sport seats, which are also heated. The black leather trim extends to the dashboard, centre console, and door cards. All of the upholstery is in superb condition, with minimal wear present on the seat bolsters. It was specified from the factory with the Sport Chrono Package, which provides more dynamic engine and chassis tuning, with quicker acceleration via the ‘Launch Control’ mode.

Other factory-fitted features include PCM with satellite navigation, climate control, cruise control, and rear parking sensors. An aftermarket Bluetooth adapter has also been installed. The rear seats are in great condition, and the front boot luggage area also presents very well.

Mechanically, the car is in superb order with the added benefit of an upgraded exhaust ‘X-Pipe’ to allow the gorgeous flat-six to really sing. The car has no mechanical faults, a full service history, and has clearly been well looked after by all four owners.

This 997.2 has been maintained exclusively by authorised Porsche dealers, with a large history file of receipts and a fully stamped service book. The most recent service was carried out by Porsche Centre Tonbridge on 14 March 2019 at 62,433 miles. Prior to this the car was serviced by Porsche Centre Silverstone on 22 March 2017 at 49,350 miles, at which point the auxiliary drive belt was replaced along with the spark plugs.

The most recent MOT test was on 10 October 2019 at 62,556 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The wheels are shod in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres, in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 295/30 ZR19 at the rear. They remain in great shape with plenty of tread, having been fitted in 2019.

A compelling package, this Porsche 997 Carrera S is an eminently usable 911 in a great colour scheme and with excellent service history. For many, the 997.2 is a sweet spot in the 911’s back catalogue, and this car is a fine example of the model.
