2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO X FQ-300 SST

This Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X is a well-maintained example of the marque’s final generation of the rally-inspired performance saloon, benefiting from discerning upgrades. Under the bonnet is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 379bhp thanks to a remap by Evotune. Power is channelled to an all-wheel-drive system via a six-speed dual-clutch SST transmission. The odometer reads 57,101 miles.

This Evo is a UK-market model, first registered in March 2009, and has been owned by the current vendor for the past year. It has been treated to a number of choice upgrades, including an aftermarket exhaust system and HSD adjustable coilovers with adjustable top mounts. A Cosworth panel filter is installed, along with a three-port boost solenoid, to bring out the best in the aforementioned remap. Its rally-derived appearance is enhanced by the addition of Ralliart mud flaps.

Wearing its factory hue of Orient Red metallic, this Evo X is believed to retain all of its original panels and paint. The front end displays some stone chips along the bumper and bonnet, with minor areas of lacquer peel on the top of the bumper. A small scratch is also visible on the nearside bottom of the rear bumper, but overall the finish is in good order. This Japanese performance saloon retains its original 12-spoke alloy wheels, which are in fair condition with some kerbing marks visible and brake dust staining, so would benefit from refurbishment.

Inside, the Evo’s functional interior includes factory-fit Alcantara Recaro bucket seats. These are in good condition with no rips or tears and only light signs of wear. The hardwearing interior plastics are likewise in good order. This example is well specified with the addition of a Rockford Fosgate upgraded audio system, xenon lights with cornering function, and automatic wipers and lights. The vendor advises that the electrical accessories are in full working order, with the exception of the screenwash function where fluid does not always emerge despite the pump functioning as normal.

The Evo was last serviced at 56,807 miles by SVP Motorsport. This was a full service, entailing replacement of the engine oil with Mobil 1 Super 3000 5W-40, the fitment of an HKS oil filter, and the Cosworth panel air filter. Brembo high-carbon front brake discs and pads were fitted, while the oil sump was removed, cleaned and resealed with OEM sealant. NGK Laser Iridium spark plugs were also fitted. The vendor advises that the Active Yaw Control (AYC) pump has also previously been replaced.

The most recent MOT test was on 13 March 2020 at 54,504 miles. This was a first time pass with zero advisories – with the car only ever having failed one MOT in its lifetime in 2017 for a faulty registration plate bulb.

The Mitsubishi is shod in matching Nankang semi-slick tyres, which the vendor advises are less than a year old and in good condition.

Offering superb performance wrapped in a practical saloon bodyshell, this Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ-300 is a well-maintained Japanese icon with relatively subtle upgrades to enhance the performance. With exceptional all-wheel-drive ability, it makes for a great year-round daily driver, and as the last of the rally-inspired road-going Evos, would make a smart addition to a collection of modern classics.
