This Land Rover Defender 90 Hard Top is a sound example of the iconic off-roader, refinished with a custom appearance, and with a solid maintenance history. Under the bonnet sits a 2.4-litre TDCI inline-four engine producing around 122bhp, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 30,085 miles from new.

A 2010 model year example, it was first registered in November 2009 and has just one previous keeper on the log book, and is now offered for sale to another enthusiast.

The bodywork of this Defender presents in good order, with smooth panels, flush panel gaps and no suggestion of any prior damage. Its custom additions include a heritage style front grille, Series III headlight surrounds, and a galvanised steel front bumper, all of which remain in good condition. The car’s Tamar Blue paintwork presents well overall, with some slight bubbling in the common areas - such as the windscreen hinge covers - and light scratches near the driver’s door lock from keys touching the surface. The car rides on genuine Defender Wolf 16-inch wheels, which are painted in white to match the roof and are in good condition on all four corners.

Moving inside, there are aftermarket Tan leather seat covers, which present in excellent condition, and the car also features a suede-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel and a re-trimmed cubby box. There are some light scratches to the gear knob, some minor scuffs to the passenger side of the dashboard, and the rubber floor mats appear with some age-related wear. The vendor has reported the car’s electrics all work as they should and there are no warning lights present on the dashboard. Heavy duty rubber mats line the loading bay.

The last service was undertaken in December 2019 at 28,000 miles. The vendor notes that the service book is present and has three previous stamps from Land Rover dealers. The remainder of the car’s servicing since then has been carried out by independent garages.

The most recent MOT was on 20 March 2020 at 29,807 miles, which resulted in a pass with advisories regarding corrosion on the coil springs, some wear to the front brake discs, some corrosion on the chassis, and a deteriorated rear registration plate. The latter was renewed, and the vendor also advises that the corrosion on the coil springs has been rectified.

The wheels are wrapped with Cooper Discoverer R/T tyres all round, which the vendor notes are in excellent condition with plenty of tread. Accompanying the vehicle is the original Land Rover handbook and service book in their storage wallet.

This Land Rover Defender 90 Hard Top is a smart customised example, which has a retro-inspired appearance and a more appealingly trimmed cabin. Suitable for both on and off-road duties, this is a rugged and durable modern classic that is ready to drive and enjoy.
