2009 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 130 DOUBLE CAB

This Land Rover Defender 130 is a superb expedition or holiday vehicle, boasting an incredible specification and a huge on- and off-road presence. Under the bonnet is the 2.4-litre TDCI inline-four, with permanent four-wheel drive via a six-speed manual transmission. This truck has been used and enjoyed as intended, covering some 88,411 miles from new.

First registered in 2009, the seller advises that the Defender has had three previous keepers. The current trade seller has owned the car for the last five years.

Its bodywork presents in good order, with no signs of any serious panel damage - though of course this is a rugged truck with immense off-road capability, so there is the odd ding and scratch in the Keswick Green paint finish. The Defender rides on 18-inch Overfinch ‘Apollo’ wheels, which present in very good order.

A list of modifications is included below, but its Double Cab Pick-up body features the rear utility box that comprises a large storage area housing a National Luna fridge freezer, as well as a custom fabricated kitchen area with its own bar. There is a Hannibal full length roof rack, as well as a 2.4-metre awning with sides and touring kit that creates a mobile room underneath. For full expedition capability, it comes with external spotlights, a Safari snorkel, spare wheel carrier, water cans and fuel cans. There are light guards, chequer plate metal bonnet panels, and side protection runners.

In the cabin, the seats are upholstered in half-leather and half-cloth trim, and are all in very good order. There is also leather trim on the dashboard panels and grab bar, to add a touch of luxury for longer trips, and upgraded Alpine audio. Twin batteries are fitted, one being the standard unit and another leisure auxiliary battery, with charge indicators visible to the driver. It is also equipped with a portable solar screen for remote recharging of batteries, and a rear-view camera to make reversing this truck a little easier.

This Defender is fresh from a recent oil and filter service, and its service prior to this was at approximately 76,000 miles. The seller reports that it has had regular maintenance from new, and is presented in good mechanical order throughout, with no reported faults. The wheels are shod in 265/65 R18 BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres, which all appear to be in great shape with plenty of tread.

This Land Rover Defender 130 Double Cab is a serious piece of kit, which takes the standard model’s ‘go anywhere’ credentials to another level. Fitted out with all the equipment and storage space that you could need for a few weeks away - or perhaps even longer - this would make a great vehicle to use for some wild camping in the UK or Ireland, and is certainly ready to be put into use much, much farther afield as well.
