2009 FERRARI CALIFORNIA

This 2009 Ferrari California is a clean example of the Italian brand’s front-engine grand tourer, presented with low mileage, Nero Daytona paintwork and an attractive convertible hardtop roof. The California is considered a landmark car for Ferrari, marking their first to feature a front-mounted V8, seven-speed dual clutch transmission, convertible folding metal roof, multi-link rear suspension and direct fuel injection. Its 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine produces 483bhp and can propel the car from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. The odometer currently indicates 44,450 miles from new.

The vehicle was first registered in September 2009 and has been in the vendor’s possession for one year, with 3+ keepers on the logbook in total.

The exterior presents well overall and the vendor reports there has never been any bodywork damage to the best of their knowledge. They note some light stone chips to the front bumper, but the Nero Daytona black paintwork has benefitted from a respray and remains in good condition on the whole. The 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels have some minor oxidation under the top coat of lacquer, though they remain neat and tidy.

The original Nero black leather interior remains in good condition and is believed to be entirely original. The owner reports a small tear in the driver’s floor mat, and the leather is slightly worn in the usual suspect areas, such as the driver’s bolster and headrest. The driver has reported no faults with any interior controls or electrics, and this interior remains a comfortable place to relax while the California eats up the miles.

The last full service was undertaken at H.R. Owen Ferrari in London at 42,200 miles in June 2020, where the technicians changed the engine oil and air, fuel and oil filters. The vendor notes two full services were carried out at the prior intervals in 2018 and 2019.

The most recent MOT test was on 14 August 2020, which resulted in a pass with advisories to monitor fluctuation in the offside front service brake, though this was not excessive, and the vendor notes the issue has since been rectified. Other advisories include wear to both rear lower suspension component pins and misting of oil or a limited damping effect in the nearside rear and offside front shock absorbers. The Pirelli P Zero tyres appear to be in good condition all round, with the vendor noting they are two years old and have around 4mm of tread remaining.

The vehicle comes with the original owner’s manual, service book and corresponding invoices for any maintenance completed.

This 2009 Ferrari California is a clean example of the predecessor to the Portofino, boasting a 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, seven-speed dual clutch semi-automatic gearbox and a convertible hardtop roof. The Nero Daytona black leather remains as appealing as ever, and the 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels complement this Italian grand tourer superbly.
