2008 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (MK5) R32

This Volkswagen Golf R32 is a very well-presented example of a superb all-rounder, in excellent condition throughout and with solid service history. Under the bonnet is the 3.2-litre VR6 engine, which sends around 247bhp to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and a Haldex all-wheel-drive system. The odometer shows 57,986 miles from new.

First registered on 26 November 2008, this R32 remains entirely standard and unmodified, and has five previous keepers on the V5C. The current owner states that they were previously the fourth keeper, but bought the car back around six months ago.

Today, the bodywork presents in superb condition, and the vendor notes that both front wings have recently been replaced as they can suffer from rust. The whole front end was then professionally resprayed to blend in the paintwork. Its Diamond Black finish was subsequently treated to a two-stage machine polish, and has been ceramic coated.

All of the body trims and light lenses present well, and the car is equipped with rear parking sensors. It rides on 18-inch 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels, which are in great shape, housing standard brake discs and blue brake callipers. Both the wheels and the callipers have been refurbished to the factory appearance.

Inside, the black Vienna leather is in excellent order, with no heavy wear or discolouration, and showing minimal signs of use and light creasing. The front seats are manually adjustable with electric lumbar support on both sides. The rear seats have a few indentations from where a child seat has previously been fitted.

Its turned metal and carbon effect trim inlays present well, as do the door cards and dashboard. Aftermarket carbon gear shift paddles are also installed. Factory-fitted equipment includes dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, satellite navigation, power-folding mirrors, and Bluetooth connectivity. There are no known electrical faults, and no warning lights present.

Its last scheduled maintenance was in August 2020 at 56,918 miles, carried out by VW Crow Road in Glasgow. This comprised a major service, with renewal of the long life engine oil, DSG and Haldex system services with new fluids, a new air filter, a fresh set of spark plugs, and an air-conditioning service. The most recent MOT test was on 23 February 2021 at 57,986 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. All four wheels are fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, which still have around 6mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the original VW wallet and book pack, including the stamped service record.

This VW Golf Mk5 R32 is a superb hot hatch, which boasts year-round usability and the marque’s typically robust build quality and mechanical reliability. It has evidently been kept in very good order by its previous owners, and represents a remarkably clean and tidy example of the breed. It could be put into service as an exciting daily driver, but would also be a credit to any collection of modern classics.
