2008 PORSCHE 911 (997) GT2 CLUBSPORT - LHD

This Porsche 997 GT2 Clubsport is a wonderful example of a storming 911, presented in superb condition and with genuine low mileage. It is powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 523bhp, with rear-wheel drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 16,249 miles (26,150 km) from new.

The 997 GT2 blends the Turbo running gear with a rear-drive chassis developed from the GT3. It was equipped as standard with the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system (PCCB) and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), as well as a lightweight titanium exhaust system. It can sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and go on to a top speed of 204 mph.

Supplied by Porsche Centre Helsinki on 3 January 2008, its first owner actually lived in France, and one month later the car received its first registration certificate there. While the car was based in Linthal, close to the borders with Switzerland and Germany, maintenance work was carried out by Porsche Centre Freiburg. It is understood to have had just one further keeper in continental Europe, before it was acquired by its current UK-based owner, and imported in March 2018. He has since enjoyed around 450 miles behind the wheel.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, with flush shut lines and tight panel gaps. The only note from the seller is that there is an almost imperceptible soft dent near the rear number plate. Otherwise, the car presents superbly, with the Basalt Black paint still looking smooth and glossy all around the car - and with the front having previously been resprayed to rectify stone chips. The body trims, light lenses, and grille panels are all in great shape. It rides on the original 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels, which are in pristine condition and retain the GT2 centre caps.

Inside, this car was specified from the factory with the Clubsport package, including carbon-fibre backed sport bucket seats trimmed in flame-retardant fabric, a bolt-in rear roll cage, and six-point safety harnesses. All of the upholstery is in excellent order, with no rips or tears, and hardly any wear to speak of. The dashboard and door tops are trimmed in black leather, while there is extensive use of Alcantara for the door panels and handles, door pocket lids, centre console, steering wheel rim, gear knob, and handbrake grip.

Ahead of the driver is a multi-function steering wheel trimmed in leather and with carbon-fibre inlays. The instrument dials are original, but the electronic read-outs were converted to UK miles-per-hour specification in 2018. Factory-fitted equipment includes PCM with satellite navigation, climate control, cruise control, HomeLink, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors and rain-sensing wipers, and tailored floor mats.

The stamped maintenance record documents four services from new, the first by OPC Aachen and the next two by OPC Freiburg. After being imported by its current owner, it was given a major service by OPC Brooklands at 25,488 km (15,838 miles), to include a conversion to the necessary UK specifications. The drive belt was also replaced, along with the brake fluid and the spark plugs, and it received full four-wheel alignment. It went back to OPC Brooklands in June 2018 for a new starter motor, as well as new tyre pressure monitoring sensors on all wheels.

The most recent MOT test was on 1 October 2019 at 16,075 miles (25,870 km), which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories or warnings. The wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 325/30 ZR19 at the rear. They are date-coded to 2013 and all have around 4mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the original wallet and a set of English-language books, including the driver’s manual, original stamped guarantee and maintenance record, PCM user guide and dealer directory. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is also present, along with two keys.

This Porsche 911 GT2 Clubsport is an extremely rare version of the 997 model, which boasts eye-opening acceleration, and hugely entertaining dynamics. This car remains in original and unmolested condition, and has a great factory specification. Only 1,242 examples of the 997 GT2 were built, and Clubsport cars are even rarer. Given this 911’s low mileage and excellent condition, it would undoubtedly be an impressive addition to any collection.
