2008 FORD MUSTANG 'BULLITT'

This 2008 Ford Mustang ‘Bullitt’ is a very smart example of the modern homage, built to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original Mustang’s famed movie appearance. Under the bonnet sits the 4.6-litre V8 from the GT model, with a raised rev limit and a power boost to 315bhp and 315lb-ft of torque, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 36,200 miles from new.

Introduced as a limited run of cars, the Mustang ‘Bullitt’ features 18-inch wheels and a Bullitt logo to the rear, while inside it boasts a specific leather steering wheel, an aluminium gear knob and an engine-turned metal dashboard panel. First registered in July 2008, this example has been with its current keeper for one year. The appropriate registration ‘GT08 BLT’ will be included in the sale.

The muscular bodywork of this Mustang is all in good order, while the condition of the Highland Green paintwork has been described as excellent. It is believed to be entirely original, presenting with some bubbling to the bonnet lip and some age-related scuffs and marks around the lower front bumper in particular. On this example, the wing mirrors have been replaced with retro Agent 47 items, while the rear side windows have been replaced with Silver Horse Racing louvres. The 18-inch wheels – replicating the classic ‘Torque Thrust’ design – have some surface corrosion in the finish, so would benefit from refurbishment.

Inside, the seats are trimmed with black leather, which is described as being in excellent condition and has just some age-related creasing. Its door cards, carpets and headlining also appear to be in good order. The main contact points on the steering wheel and aluminium gear knob present well, while a Pioneer head unit has been fitted. No electrical faults have been detected, and all of the switchgear currently works as it should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken at 30,165 miles, where technicians at Garth Auto Services in Cardiff changed the engine oil and filter. Prior to this, similar routine servicing was undertaken by Alder’s Automotive in Sussex at 23,075 miles, and by Bill Shepherd Mustang in West Byfleet at 17,300 miles.

The most recent MOT test was on 24 November 2020 at 35,533 miles, which resulted in a pass with one note regarding a defective offside front wiper blade, as well as two advisories for an offside front lower suspension ball joint with some slight play and a worn nearside front tyre. Accompanying the vehicle are the original service book and a raft of maintenance invoices.

Reported to be the first example sold in the UK, this Ford Mustang ‘Bullitt’ is an appealing limited-run muscle car, presented in very good overall condition. It blends a naturally aspirated V8 with a slick manual transmission to deliver a gloriously analogue and engaging driving experience. A highly capable and characterful homage, this Mustang ‘Bullitt’ would make a solid choice for any muscle car enthusiast or a die-hard fan of the beloved ‘60s film.
