2008 FERRARI 612 SCAGLIETTI ONE TO ONE - EX-ERIC CLAPTON

This Ferrari 612 Scaglietti ‘One to One’ is a stunning contemporary grand tourer, finished in what is believed to be a unique specification, and boasting Eric Clapton as its first owner. Under the bonnet is the 5.7-litre ‘Tipo F133’ V12 engine, producing 532bhp in stock form, coupled to the six-speed F1 SuperFast automated manual transmission. The odometer shows just 13,448 miles.

Ordered in 2008, this car fell within Ferrari's new 'One to One' (OTO) personalisation programme, which 612 Scaglietti buyers were routed through to choose from a raft of bespoke finishes. This car originally left the factory painted in a grey hue, but it was sent back to the factory by Clapton in 2010 for a full strip and respray in the striking black and blue two-tone colour scheme. The car features the HGT2 handling package, sports exhaust, and electrochromic roof.

First registered in November 2008, there are three previous keepers on the log book, including two famous owners. The original warranty book remains with the car, which was first assigned to Clapton’s holding company, Marshbrook Ltd. It has been with the current owner for the last five years.

Given that this car features all of the later OTO upgrades with the Sessanta-style two-tone paint finish and 19-inch forged alloys, this car’s specification is believed to be ‘one of one’. The Nero Daytona main body is complemented by the top section in metallic blue, and a blue side line. The bodywork is generally in excellent order, with only a few minor stone chips in the paint finish from road use.

All of the light lenses are in great shape, and the only noted damage to the glass is a small chip in the centre of the windscreen. The exterior is enhanced by the factory-fitted Scuderia Ferrari wing shields, and the HGT2 sports exhaust tailpipes. Some minor scuffs are present on the under-trays beneath the chassis, but overall this is a very well-presented GT. It rides on the Sessanta specification 19-inch forged alloy wheels, which are in very good condition, housing the carbon-ceramic brake discs and yellow painted callipers.

Inside, this 612 Scaglietti was specified with sumptuous tan leather upholstery throughout, with diamond-stitch quilting on the seat centre panels, and the panels behind the rear seats. The upholstery remains in excellent condition, with some slight wrinkling on the offside rear passenger seat, minimal wear on the driver’s seat outer bolster, and a scuff on the back of the driver’s headrest pillar where the seat belt has grazed it over time. There is also a small scratch in the passenger-side sill cover kick plate.

The front seats are heated and feature full electric adjustment, while there is also dual-zone climate control. Black piping around each of the seats complements the exterior colour, while the specification also includes the sophisticated electrochromic roof, which can switch between transparent and opaque by twisting the central dial. The boot release button coating has a slightly sticky finish, but the rest of the switchgear presents well. Factory-fitted equipment also includes an infotainment and satellite navigation system, and the Bose surround-sound system.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in June 2020 at 13,321 miles at DK Engineering, which comprised a full mechanical inspection and oil service, as well as renewal of the brake fluid and the Bosch battery. The front upper ball joints and rubber boots were also replaced.

Prior to this, in November 2018 at 12,937 miles, it was given a major service with renewal of the cambelts, auxiliary belts and belt tensioners, along with a fresh set of spark plugs. As the 612 has a five-year belt service interval, the cambelts do not need replacing again until November 2023. Other recent maintenance in the history file includes another annual service in November 2017 at 11,809 miles, and a geometry calibration in February 2017 by Wheels in Motion of Chesham.

The last MOT test was carried out on 29 November 2019 at 13,285 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories. The near-flawless online MOT test record is undoubtedly testament to this car’s generally excellent condition. The wheels are shod in Bridgestone Potenza tyres on all four corners, which are date-coded to 2017 and have more than 4mm of depth throughout.

Accompanying the car are all of the original books, including the stamped service record, as well as a good file of invoices for previous servicing and maintenance. A tyre inflator pump and the original briefcase tool kit are also present as well as the spare key.

This Ferrari 612 Scaglietti ‘One to One’ is an elegant grand tourer with a wonderful depth of talent. Its outright pace means it is a genuine thrill to drive on the open road, while its luxurious and spacious cabin makes it a fantastic car in which to cover long distances. This particular car’s outstanding provenance, unique appearance, low mileage and stunning condition means it would be a superb addition to any Ferrari collection, and will turn heads wherever the next owner chooses to drive it.
