2008 BENTLEY BROOKLANDS

This 2008 Bentley Brooklands is a rare and lavish luxury tourer, presented in a charming factory colour combination and with low mileage from new. Under the bonnet is the 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which offers 530bhp and an astonishing 774lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The fastest Bentley on sale at its launch, the Brooklands takes just 5.0 seconds to whisk its occupants from 0-60mph in almost unparalleled comfort, and on to a top speed of 184mph. The odometer displays just 44,967 miles from new.

Believed to be one of only 105 right-hand drive examples, this Brooklands was first registered in June 2008, and has three previous keepers on the V5C. It was acquired by the vendor around two years ago.

Today, this refined luxury coupe’s body remains in excellent condition, with flush shut lines and tight panel gaps. Named in honour of British financier, racing driver and ‘Bentley Boy’ Woolf Barnato, the Barnato Green paintwork also presents very well. The vendor notes that the front end of the car was repainted by Bentley dealers P&A Wood in 2019 and the vehicle underwent a 130-hour paint-correction detail in April 2020 to remove any swirl marks and fine scratches, leaving it with a near mirror-shine.

The chrome strips on its lower sides, and around the windows and rear numberplate recess, remain in very good order. The light lenses and badges also present well, however the vendor notes that the rear window seals have worn, and would benefit from replacement in due course – though the glass itself is undamaged. While many Brooklands have been fitted with the optional five-spoke alloys, this example rides on a set of the 20-inch 16-spoke ‘Disc’ wheels, which are in great shape, with only a handful of very minor blemishes to their surfaces.

More akin to a classic British drawing room than a standard car interior, this Bentley’s cabin is as lavishly appointed as one might expect. Warm Caramel leather covers the seats, the centres of the door cards and the headlining, while dark green hide has been applied to the upper and lower dashboard, the sides of the centre console, and the door cards’ upper and lower sections.

All of the leather features contrast stitching throughout, with Caramel stitching on the dark green leather and vice versa, and is in outstanding condition, with P&A Wood having corrected any scuffs when they refurbished the interior in 2019. Burr walnut veneers cover the dashboard, centre console, dome light surround, door cappings and the rear central storage compartment/ash tray; and there are no chips, cracks or signs of fading to the surfaces.

Factory-fitted equipment includes dual-zone front and single-zone rear climate control, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, heated and reclining rear seats, an infotainment and satellite navigation system with a remote control, and a Bentley-branded Nokia car phone which remains unused. All of the interior switches and other electrical items work without fault, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

The car’s most recent routine maintenance was a general service, which was carried out in August 2020 at 41,685 miles by independent Bentley specialist GT Services Cheshire. Prior to this, the car’s seventh scheduled service was performed by P&A Wood in February 2019 at 35,328 miles, when the rear brakes, batteries, steering rack, horn and tyre pressure monitoring sensors were replaced at a cost of £8,701, and the paint on the car’s nose and its interior trim was refurbished.

This Bentley is also provided with an additional level of protection thanks to a professionally-fitted Vodafone tracker and a hardwired Nextbase dash cam, while a Bentley-branded CTEK battery charger and hardwired trickle lead have been added to keep its battery in optimal condition.

Its latest MOT test was conducted on 12 February 2021 at 44,930 miles, resulting in a first-time pass with no advisories. All four wheels are fitted with Goodyear winter tyres, which the vendor states are in excellent condition and have covered just 1,500 miles to date.

Accompanying this Brooklands are its original service book, leather-bound handbook, quick reference guides, leather document wallet and two keys.

Described by Evo Magazine as “the world’s greatest grand tourer” in their 2008 review, the Bentley Brooklands is a high-end luxury car which is almost unmatched in its levels of performance, comfort and impressive road manners. Believed to be one of just 105 right-hand examples built, this rare and opulent coupe will make a wonderful addition to any collection, and will bring an air of grace and class to any occasion.
