2008 AUDI TTS

This 2008 Audi TTS is a stylish and well-built sports coupe, which is presented in superb cosmetic condition and benefits from impressive maintenance history. Its engine is the 268bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, with Quattro all-wheel drive via the six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 67,638 miles from new.

When the Mk2 TTS was launched, it was lauded by experienced motoring journalists as a proper sports car within the range. The likes of Gavin Green at CAR magazine said it was “by some margin, the best driving TT yet”. Audi’s adaptive magnetic damping system was fitted as standard, with a 10mm drop in ride height over the standard car, and it was capable of 0-62mph in just 5.4 seconds. This car first registered in September 2008, and there are five previous keepers on the V5C log book. The seller has owned it for the last year.

The bodywork of this TTS is in great condition, with no panel damage or dents. Its eye-catching factory colour of Sprint Blue looks superb, and retains a smooth and even finish around the car. There is paint protection film applied to key areas, so damage from road debris is minimal. The seller notes only a few minor marks and stone chips.

The car remains in its original specification, with the exception of a cat-back Milltek sports exhaust, which enhances the character of the turbocharged FSI engine. All of the light lenses and body trims are in excellent condition, with no dings or damage from road use. It rides on the 19-inch five-parallel-spoke star design alloys, which are in superb order, having only a minor mark on one wheel.

In the cabin, the seats are trimmed in full black Nappa leather with white stitching. While the driver’s seat in particular shows signs of use in line with the mileage, there is very little bolster wear or discolouration. The rear seats in particular appear to have been barely used, although there are a few indentations from having been folded down to increase the boot space. At the front, the electrically adjustable sport seats are heated, and feature lumbar support controls.

There is brushed aluminium interior trim throughout, and the leather trim pattern is carried across onto the armrests in the doors, the instrument binnacle, and the steering wheel. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, split-folding rear seats, heated door mirrors, and the Audi Symphony audio system with Bose surround sound. The seller reports that the glove box opens quite slowly, so may need a new hinge in due course.

The TTS is fresh from a fluids and filters service carried out in April 2020 at 67,638 miles by Octane Garage in Crowborough. This visit also included renewal of the offside front coil spring and wheel bearing. Specialist technician Lee Colbran noted that the underbody was in particular good condition when inspecting the car.

The previous scheduled maintenance visit was in April 2019 at 65,369 miles, carried out by CG Motortech in Bedfordshire. This consisted of a thorough inspection, along with renewal of the engine oil and oil filter. During 2018, various components were replaced by specialist Total VAG in Leighton Buzzard. This included fitting a Sachs competition clutch and a dual-mass flywheel in April that year, at 57,226 miles.

In March 2018, it was put through an annual service at Total VAG at 56,795 miles, which included renewal of the brake fluid. The workshop visit prior to this in 2017 also saw the same specialist install a new thermostat. In March 2016, Total VAG carried out a major service, which incorporated replacement of the camshaft timing belt, spark plugs, water pump, Haldex oil, air and fuel filters, and the PCV valve.

The Haldex pump was replaced with a genuine Audi item by the previous owner, and the car has recently had new rear brake discs and Brembo pads, along with new front brake pads. The camshaft follower was also renewed as a preventative maintenance step.

Its most recent MOT test was on 22 November 2019 at 67,157 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The wheels are shod in Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres in size 255/35 R19 all round. They were fitted as a set around 1,000 miles ago, and as you would expect remain in excellent condition with plenty of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the complete book pack, including the owner’s manual, various user guides, and the stamped maintenance record. There is also a copy of the inspection report commissioned by the seller, before he purchased the car last year, and a good history file with old invoices pertaining to service work. Two keys are also present.

This Audi TTS is a superb example of the breed, which boasts an appealing combination of brisk performance and everyday practicality. It is a refined and comfortable coupe, which could easily be put into service as an exciting daily driver for its next owner. Alternatively, it would be a great ‘fun car’ for weekends, with its vibrant factory colour capable of brightening up even the gloomiest of days.

Please note: the cherished plate shown on the car is not included in the sale. It will be switched back to another age-related registration plate in the event of a successful auction.
