2007 SMART BRABUS FORTWO 'RED EDITION'

This 2007 Smart Brabus Fortwo ‘Red Edition’ is a limited-run version of the popular city car, with a comprehensive service history. Under the bonnet sits the turbocharged 75bhp 698cc three-cylinder engine, coupled to an automated manual transmission with paddle shift. The odometer currently indicates 51,144 miles from new.

First registered in February 2007, this rare ‘Red Edition’ has been with its current keeper for one year. A limited run of only 50 cars, only 35 of which were built as coupés; it came finished in Intense Red and featured a few interior upgrades over the standard Brabus Fortwo, including Alcantara upholstery with red stitching and various matching accents on the dashboard, dials and door cards. The car also comes equipped with the Brabus twin exhaust, lowered suspension and a set of 16-inch monoblock wheels.

The bodywork of this Fortwo is in good shape, though the grille insert may require some attention, as it appears slightly loose. The Intense Red paintwork is in good order, with some stone chips on the front end, some scratches around the edge of the windscreen and a few scuffs to the door handles. A few small marks can also be seen on the wing mirror caps. The 16-inch Brabus wheels have minor damage, but could easily be treated to professional refurbishment.

Inside, the front seats are both in great condition, with only slight wear commensurate with the low mileage. The Alcantara-clad dashboard and door card inserts are in good shape, though a few marks can be seen on their black plastic surrounds. An aftermarket Alpine stereo has been installed, and all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in October 2020 at 51,098 miles, where technicians at Smart-TECNIC in Birmingham carried out a Service C, also replacing a front spring, boot strut and exhaust bracket, along with the offside front shock absorber and track rod end. Prior to this, routine servicing was carried out at ATS Euromaster in November 2019 at 49,101 miles, and at an independent garage in June 2017 at 45,911 miles.

The vendor states that the car will come with a fresh MOT certificate; however its most recent MOT test was on 26 July 2019 at 48,429 miles, which resulted in a pass with two advisories to monitor a worn front brake disc and some slight play in the offside front anti-roll bar. Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manual and service book, along with the factory stereo.

This Smart Fortwo Red Edition is a limited-run city car with a racy Intense Red colour scheme and a stylish Alcantara and leather interior. One of only 35 coupé models built, this Fortwo would make a genuinely rare addition to a collection of modern classics, and is ready to drive as a fun urban runabout.
