2007 PORSCHE 911 (997) GT3 CLUBSPORT

This Porsche 997.1 GT3 Clubsport is a superb example of one of the great 911s, specified with desirable factory options, and presented in excellent condition. It is powered by the remarkable 3.6-litre M97.76 flat-six, which revs to 8400rpm and produces 409bhp, with rear-wheel drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 37,315 miles from new.

Ordered in the classic colour scheme of GT Silver with a black Alcantara interior, this car was specified with the factory Clubsport package with lightweight bucket seats, 19-inch GT3 alloys, and coloured Porsche crests on the wheel caps. It also has bi-xenon headlights, cruise control, PCM with the sound package and CD changer, silver grey seat belts, floor mats, and with the rear section of the centre console painted in the body colour.

An original UK market car, this GT3 was supplied by Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield in March 2007. There are seven previous keepers on the log book, and it has evidently been very well maintained. The seller has owned the car for just over four years, enjoying some 6,000 miles behind the wheel in that time.

The bodywork remains in superb order all around the car, with flush shut lines and consistent panel gaps. There is no sign of any accident damage, and the GT Silver paint appears to be all original. It was fitted with paint protection film to the front section from new, in addition to the standard film ahead of the rear wheel arches, and overall the finish is in very good condition for its age and mileage. There are some stone chips around the front and flanks, and scuff marks to the front splitter. Its original 19-inch alloy wheels have some small scuffs around the rims, and a few chips in the silver paint, all of which are visible in the photo gallery.

In the cabin, the lightweight bucket seats are upholstered in Nomex fabric, and there is a red six-point Schroth harness for the driver - as well as the standard seat belts on both sides. Black leather trim extends across the dashboard, around the communications and HVAC controls, and on the door panels. Elsewhere, Alcantara is used for the steering wheel trim, gear knob and handbrake lever, as well as the door cards, central and side armrests, and the headlining. There is slight wear to the steering wheel, and a very small hole in the Nomex on the right-hand side of the driver’s seat, but generally the interior trim is in great shape throughout. It also comes with a pair of tailored luggage bags for the front boot, as pictured.

This car currently resides in a collection alongside several other rare 911s, and is unsurprisingly maintained to a high standard. It has just had a major service carried out by Hawthorns Engineering Ltd in Farnham on the 17 June 2020 at 37,311 miles, and the prior service to that was in July 2017 at 34,613 miles, carried out by Porsche Centre Guildford. Before these, the same main dealer fitted a full set of brake discs and pads in July 2016 at 32,352 miles, and it was seen by Porsche Centre Swindon in January 2016 for a major service at 30,815 miles. During the latter, the auxiliary drive belt was also renewed.

The most recent MOT test was on 1 October 2019 at 36,480 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. The wheels are shod in Porsche N-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, which are date-coded to 2017 and remain in very good condition.

Accompanying the car is the original black book pouch, housing the driver’s manual, stamped guarantee and maintenance record, dealer directory, PCM user guide, and other dealer literature. A full summary of the service history is included below.

Driving the 997 GT3 at launch, Evo magazine’s John Barker heaped praise on the model, stating: “On a dry road the grip is astonishing, yet that’s just a part of the experience. Beneath you is one of the finest 911 chassis yet, one that engages and challenges”. He concluded by calling the GT3 “one of the best drivers’ 911s ever – fantastically tactile, irresistibly engaging and fitted with one of the most thrilling flat-sixes Porsche has ever built”.

This Porsche 997.1 GT3 Clubsport is a sensational driver’s car, which the seller says has been a pleasure to own over the last four years. Equally at home on the road or the track, its remarkable powertrain and chassis is supported by impressive reliability and usability. With standard PASM, as well as air-conditioning, cruise control, and the tailored luggage bags, this 911 makes a surprisingly practical car for longer-distance touring, while its chassis and engine of course mean that it is a joy to relish on the best roads along the way.
