2007 PORSCHE 911 (997.1) CARRERA 2S

This Porsche 911 (997) Carrera S is a superb sports car with a desirable factory specification, presented in very good overall condition. Its engine is the 355bhp 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, driven through the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 46,584 miles from new.

First registered in April 2007, the clear HPI report on file records five previous registered keepers. The seller acquired the car in January 2019 and has enjoyed just over 3,000 miles behind the wheel since then.

Its bodywork is in excellent condition, with no dents or other damage to the panels, and with flush shut lines and good panel gaps. The Basalt Black paint finish is smooth and glossy around the car, with only a few minor blemishes from use. There are some small stone chips to the front bumper, and a few light scratches on the doors that may polish out. Otherwise, the seller reports that it presents very well indeed. It rides on a set of 19-inch Carrera Sport 10-spoke alloys, which are in great shape with only a small scuff on one of the front wheels, as well as some slight bubbling on the rear passenger side rim. There are coloured Porsche crest centre caps, which have some lacquer damage and discolouration.

Inside, this 997 was specified with the extended leather option, which includes black hide across the dashboard, door tops, and storage pocket lids. The headlining is trimmed with synthetic suede. It features the electrically adjustable hard-backed Sport seats, with two-stage heating, and memory settings on the driver’s side. There are some small marks and wear on the leather upholstery commensurate with the age and mileage, but no rips or other damage. On the rear seats, there are some indentations from where a child seat has previously been installed.

The factory-fitted equipment includes the desirable Sport Chrono pack and sports exhaust, along with PASM adaptive suspension, Litronic headlights, and an electric sunroof. It has the three-spoke sport steering wheel, as well as aluminium trim finishes on the gear lever and handbrake grip. There is also climate control, a rear wiper, rear parking sensors, and Bose surround sound.

The stereo has been upgraded to a more contemporary touch-screen Pioneer system, featuring satellite navigation, DAB digital radio, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth connectivity. It sits flush with the centre console and looks very smart. An original Tracker security device is also installed, but is not currently active.

When the seller purchased the car from RSJ Porsche in Berkshire, it was given a full inspection, and various components were renewed. The auxiliary drive belt was replaced, along with the oil pressure switch, gearbox oil, fuel cap, and offside actuator for the sports exhaust system. Exhaust nuts and fixings were renewed, as well as the offside window motor, and wiper blades. The air-conditioning was serviced, and it was given a full four-wheel alignment.

The previous scheduled maintenance was in September 2018 at 42,836 miles, carried out by Porsche specialist GT One. This consisted of a major 40,000-mile service, with renewal of the engine oil and filter, spark plugs, auxiliary drive belt, brake fluid, coolant crossover pipes, and water hoses. The airbag system was also checked, and a coolant system bleed was carried out.

Prior to this, it was seen in September 2016 at 38,659 miles by JAZ Porsche in St Albans. It was given an intermediate service, with renewal of the brake fluid, oil and pollen filters, and a fresh set of Continental tyres. The offside front wing also received some remedial paintwork. JAZ Porsche also serviced the car in September 2014 at 34,488 miles, during which the front inner track rods were replaced, along with the spark plugs and the coil packs.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 28 September 2019 at 45,515 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories, other than a note that a fitted child seat prevented inspection of one of the rear belts.

The wheels are shod in Continental SportContact tyres in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 295/30 ZR19 at the rear. They are date-coded to 2016, having covered around 8,000 miles since then, and have approximately 4mm of tread remaining. The seller does note some slight cracking in the sidewalls of the front tyres.

The car is accompanied by the original book wallet, containing the driver’s manual and user guides, as well as the stamped guarantee and maintenance record. Two main keys, a skeleton key, and the locking wheel nut key are also present. The seller is also including a weatherproof fabric car cover worth more than £200. This Porsche 997 Carrera S is a wonderful analogue sports car, boasting a superb factory specification, and excellent service history. It is presented in very good order throughout, and has evidently been cherished by its owners. The Carrera S versions of the 911 represent a particularly alluring blend of excitement and everyday capability, and this car is just as well-suited to thrilling road trips as it is to taking up daily driver duties.
