2007 MERCEDES-BENZ SL350 (R230)

This low-mileage 2007 Mercedes SL350 is a sleek and stylish roadster, which is presented in excellent condition and finished in a timeless factory colour combination. It is powered by a 268bhp 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, driving the rear wheels via the 7G-Tronic seven-speed semi-automatic transmission. The odometer displays just 33,608 miles from new.

First registered in March 2007, this R230-generation SL350 was specified with Iridium Silver paintwork and a black leather interior, and features front and rear parking sensors, power folding mirrors and a panoramic roof. The interior is equipped with heated memory seats, dual-zone climate control, and cruise control, and has aluminium trim inlays.

Acquired by its current owner around three and half years ago, the car has been driven and enjoyed sparingly and is now offered for sale to another enthusiast.

Today, the bodywork remains in excellent order, free of any dents and with no signs of any prior damage or degradation to the bodywork. The Iridium Silver paintwork is believed to be entirely original and has a smooth, glossy appearance across the entire body, with only a few small stone chips marking the nose. There is also a barely visible opaque mark about the size of a fingernail on the driver’s side headlamp cover, which is shown in the gallery.

The car rides on its original set of 18-inch five-arm twin-spoke alloy wheels, two of which have been refurbished (on the driver’s side) and are pristine. The two on the passenger side have some small kerbing grazes visible, and very slight bubbling around the centres, so would benefit from refurbishment in due course.

Inside, this sleek convertible is clad in soft black leather, with the optional interior package adding textured metal trim, while the dashboard, steering wheel and door panels also feature smart leather coverings. It also features the original metal-embossed floor mats, which are in excellent condition, reflecting the car’s low mileage. This example’s heated and power-adjustable seats are largely unmarked, save for some minor creasing to the driver’s seat bolsters. There are some small marks on the metal door kick plate covers, but this is evidently a very well-preserved cabin.

As well as the features mentioned above, there is also the COMAND infotainment system with satellite navigation, a six-disc CD changer plus one disc slot in the head unit, and the car is also Bluetooth enabled. All of the interior buttons, switches and controls are described as working without fault, including the electrically-operated ‘vario-roof’. There are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Described by the seller as offering an excellent driving experience, this SL350 is reported to be in very good mechanical condition. Its last routine maintenance was carried out by Mercedes-Benz Southport in June 2017 at an indicated 31,535 miles, when the engine oil and oil filter were replaced. The Varta starter battery is brand new, having been purchased and fitted just two weeks ago.

Prior to this, the car received a minor service in July 2015 at 28,142 miles by TSR Performance Taunton and a major service in March 2014 at 22,077 miles, which was carried out by the Coverdale Mercedes-Benz specialist.

This roadster’s most recent MOT test was conducted on 4 January 2021 at 33,585 miles, resulting in first time pass, with the only issue noted in the advisories being some wear to the front tyres’ inner edges.

All four wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, which have approximately 3mm of tread at the front, with slightly increased wear to the inside of the tyres, while the rear tyres have an even tread depth of 4.5mm. The front tyres would therefore benefit from replacement.

This SL350 will be supplied with previous invoices, its full complement of handbooks, including the original service manual, instructions for the satnav/audio system, overview manual and leather binder.

Praised for its refinement, elegant styling and practical folding hard-top, the R230-generation Mercedes-Benz SL350 is an effortless open-top tourer, which represents excellent value and boasts impressive levels of comfort. This low-mileage example would be a smart addition to a Mercedes collection, and should also prove to be reliable daily driver or weekend cruiser for its next owner.
