2007 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 XS TDCI

This Land Rover Defender 90 XS is a tidy example of the timeless off-roader, seen here in an appealing colourway and remaining in highly original condition throughout. Under the bonnet is a 2.4-litre engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission with high and low-range gearing. The odometer indicates just 38,071 miles.

First registered on 25 April 2007, the current vendor has owned the Defender for nearly six years. It remains in its factory specification, save for the addition of Hella Comet 500 front spotlights.

Resplendent in Tonga Green, the Defender’s paintwork is believed to be almost entirely original. The rear cross-member has been professionally repainted, and in 2016 the passenger door was replaced by Top Gun Refinishing Ltd of Kidlington, after being dented by a deer. The vendor notes that there are some very light hairline scratches visible on the bonnet, above the nearside rear wheel arch, and on the roof. A small stone chip is also present on the top of the bulkhead, but overall this example is in remarkably good order for its age. It rides on the original 16-inch five-spoke ‘Boost’ alloy wheels, which are in superb order with no signs of kerbing. There is also a full-size spare mounted at the rear.

Inside, the Defender’s utilitarian interior has stood the test of time well. The half-leather seats show minimal wear, commensurate with the very low mileage. The rear passenger seats show slight indentations from being stowed away folded, but are in excellent condition. There is a minor scratch on the front passenger window, and small nicks and scuffs are visible on some of the plastics and plaques, but overall the interior has been very well preserved and is original throughout. In XS specification, it benefits from heated front seats and air-conditioning, and there are no electrical faults of which the vendor is aware.

This Land Rover was last serviced in May 2019 at 34,439 miles by Old Mill Motors of Witney. This was an annual service, with the replacement of the fluids and filters. In addition, the key fob battery was replaced. During the vendor’s ownership, the clutch fluid was also replaced in 2020.

The most recent MOT test was on 6 November 2020 at 38,019 miles. This was a first-time pass with no advisories, and the online MOT history record provides further evidence that this is a very well-cared for example.

Shod in General Grabber TR off-road tyres, these are all in good order with ample tread remaining. The next owner will also receive the stamped service book, owner’s handbook as well as the original tools.

This Land Rover Defender 90 XS is a highly original example of the automotive icon, presenting in superb condition and with low mileage. While it will undoubtedly appeal to collectors, its off-road ability and impressive practicality means that it would also be a great all-rounder for regular use, ready to go wherever its next owner needs to.
