RESERVE LOWERED: 2007 BMW (E66) 760Li

This 2007 BMW 760Li is a superb example of the brand’s rare flagship E66-model luxury limousine, boasting an incredible specification and beautiful colour scheme. Under the bonnet sits a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, delivering 439bhp and 443lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 114,500 miles from new.

This 760Li was initially registered overseas in 2007, but is recorded as an ‘England / Ireland’ specification, so it is assumed it may have first been in Ireland – and very possibly as pre-registered dealer stock given the remarkably low mileage up to 2011. It was re-registered in the UK mainland in February 2011. The vehicle has four previous keepers on the log book, and has been the vendor’s collection for the last year.

It is believed the vehicle has never suffered any notable bodywork damage, presenting only with some minor car park dings today. Furthermore, the original Monaco Blue paintwork is in good condition, with the seller noting small stone chips on the front bumper, as well as some marks on the doors. There are some minor imperfections in the chrome trim on the front end and discolouration of the B-pillar trim, but overall this luxury behemoth looks very smart. The 19-inch alloy wheels present very well, following a recent refurbishment.

The beige leather interior remains in good order, with none of the heavy wear that you often find in less well cared-for examples. There are two small spots of discolouration on the rear seats, and some peeling on the plastic door kick plates. In general, the cabin is in superb condition for its age, looking every inch the sophisticated and sumptuous touring car. As a very late model, this 760Li also benefits from life cycle improvements, including an improved version of the iDrive and more robust electrics.

The interior has held onto its high-grade charm with a raft of gadgets and comfort features throughout. The factory-fitted equipment includes a sunroof, rear sun blinds, heated and ventilated seats in the front and rear, a heated steering wheel, and climate control with a cooler box between the rear seats. Everything works as it should, with the exception of the CD changer door that does not close – though the changer itself is still fully functional.

Over the first four years of its life, this car was used sparingly, and may well have been a demonstrator vehicle. Since then, there is a well-documented and comprehensive service history on file, as summarised below.

After acquiring the car, the vendor set about ensuring that it was in fine mechanical health, with any minor foibles addressed. In early 2020, the car was taken to performance car specialist William Francis, where the lower front control arms were replaced. The bonnet hinge was repaired and refurbished to prevent it from sticking, and new struts were fitted. Around £1,000 was then spent to rectify the common valley pan coolant leak issue with a BimmerFix kit, and a new thermostat and water pump were also installed.

Following this work, it was sent to Darkside Developments in Barnsley, where it was treated to a walnut blasting session to eradicate any carbon deposits on the intake ports and valves of the V12’s direction injection system. During this work, the coil packs were replaced, and it received an engine oil and filter service. The spark plugs had been renewed in 2018.

The 760Li returned to William Francis in August 2020, where the gearbox was fully serviced with the official ZF kit, and a new coolant supply top hose was fitted. The front and rear brake discs were replaced with EBC items, while all of the pads were renewed with Textar parts. New front and rear pad sensors were also fitted.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 August 2020 at 114,520 miles, which resulted in a clean pass. The Continental SportContact 5 tyres are reported to be in great shape all round.

The vehicle comes with all original BMW owner’s manuals and guidebooks. There is paperwork going back approximately six years, and the stamped service record going all the way back to what is likely the first service in June 2011 at 678 miles.

This 2007 BMW 760Li is a very well-maintained example of the most luxurious 7-Series of its day, combining a powerful and refined V12 with an exquisitely appointed cabin, and finished in a superb colour scheme. It represents incredible value in the market, and still feels like an event to drive – and to be driven in. If you have been seeking one of these rare 12-cylinder limousines to add to your collection, then now is your chance to acquire a cherished car.
