2007 BMW (E61) M5 TOURING

This 2007 BMW (E61) M5 is an accomplished all-rounder, with impressive practicality and incredible performance, which has been enjoyed as intended but benefits from a comprehensive maintenance history. Under the bonnet sits the 500bhp 5.0-litre ‘S85’ V10, coupled with the seven-speed SMG-III automated manual transmission with paddle shift. The odometer currently indicates 159,215 miles from new.

First registered in November 2007, this M5 has been in the hands of its current keeper for seven years, with just two previous keepers on the V5C. The car’s powertrain has not been tuned or modified, other than being fitted with an aftermarket rear exhaust.

The bodywork is all in excellent shape, with the vendor noting that a small dent in the bonnet was repaired in 2020, before the panel was resprayed. The Black Sapphire metallic paintwork is now in very good condition, presenting with just a few light stone chips on the doors and wheel arches, alongside some small scratches on top of the rear bumper. The headlight lenses and glass are free of any notable scrapes, while the car rides on a set of near pristine 19-inch five-arm twin-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the car’s original Indianapolis Red leather upholstery is in great shape considering the age and mileage. The driver’s seat has some age-related scuffs and discolouration, and there is general creasing and surface wear on all five seats. The leather-clad door cards and centre console are in good shape, though one small dent can be seen in the metal dashboard inlay. Its factory specification includes dual-zone climate control, Professional media, heated memory front seats with electric lumbar and side bolster adjustment, and cruise control. It also has the panoramic sunroof, which works perfectly, and no electrical issues have been detected elsewhere.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in January 2021 at 158,479 miles, where technicians at Cotswold Cheltenham BMW changed the engine oil, brake fluid and microfilters. Prior to this, the engine oil and filters were replaced in September 2019, while the brake fluid was replaced in January 2019. The vendor reports the throttle actuator was replaced in 2017, while a new alternator and SMG accumulator were fitted in 2016.

The most recent MOT test was on 6 November 2020 at 157,372 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The Goodyear tyres are all reported to be in good condition, with plenty of tread depth remaining. Accompanying the vehicle are the original handbook and service booklet, alongside the full toolkit.

This BMW M5 Touring is a practical yet highly capable ‘super estate’, with exhilarating performance and a sophisticated cabin. A very well-maintained example of the breed, this could be a fun addition to any collection of modern classics.
