2006 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (MK5) R32

This 2006 Volkswagen Golf (MK5) R32 is a consummate all-rounder, with an attractive specification, and presents in very good condition for a car of this age. The 247bhp engine is a 3.2-litre V6 that is paired with Volkswagen’s DSG transmission to deliver a fast and responsive drive. The odometer reads 69,791 miles from new.

First registered in February 2006 in Japan, the vehicle was exported to the UK in 2019 where it was registered in August 2019 by the vendor. 

The bodywork on this five-door Golf R32 is in very good condition and the chrome-look grille is also excellent. Lowered by 20mm compared to the standard Golf, and with two large stainless steel exhaust pipes the exterior bodywork hints at the additional power this Golf possesses. Some damage can be seen on the 18 inch multi spoked alloys but the bi-xenon headlights are in good condition. 

The front seats are the optional wingback seats upgrade and while they present well, there is some slight wear noted by the seller on the driver’s seat bolster. A sports steering wheel is fitted and milled aluminium strips throughout the cabin and gives a premium appearance, though some light scratching is noted on the interior door trim. 

Switchgear is all in good working order and includes a CD player, radio, heated seats and dual zone electronic climate control. The pedals are a great design made in polished alloy with rubber inlays, though some slight wearing can be seen in the driver’s footwell. An automatic dimming rear view mirror, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers are also all present. 

In July 2020 at 69,000 miles a full service was performed and all oils and filters changed (including the DSG and Haldex unit). Prior to that the owner has performed some preventative maintenance on the gearbox ECU including having it flashed with the latest software to ensure it is in good working order. 

The most recent MOT test was on the 25 June 2020 at 68,675 miles which resulted in a clean pass. The tyres are in good condition with 5mm left on front and rears, a spare tyre is also present. 

All original tools are included though the service history from the R32’s time in Japan is missing. In an attempt to rectify this the owner has been in touch with Volkswagen Japan and can pass on additional details on request, though the background remains incomplete. 

One thing that Volkswagen got very right with the MK5 Golf is the chassis and the R32, with its impressive power delivery and industry leading DSG gearbox, combines these elements to create a car that is both easy and exhilarating to drive. Great storage, good electronic features and an exhilarating exhaust note combine to great a huge number of reasons why the Golf R32 is such a great car to buy. This particular example has been well cared for and with relatively low mileage, it deserves serious consideration.
