KEY FACTS

• An extremely rare and highly engaging version of the lauded Japanese performance car, presented in very good overall condition and with a few modifications.
• Under the bonnet is the 2.0-litre turbocharged EJ20 flat-four, which sends 316bhp and 318lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
• Offered solely in the Japanese domestic market, only 300 Type RA-Rs were produced, and only 50 of those were finished in Sport Yellow.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• The most extreme production version of the second-generation ‘GDB’ Impreza, the RA-R builds on the STi Spec C’s already impressive performance.
• Powered by the same 316bhp turbocharged flat-four found in the Japan-only STi S204, it also benefits from an extensive weight saving programme, with less soundproofing and a thinner roof and windows.
• Stopping power is provided by six-piston Brembo brake callipers and the front and four-piston items at the rear, while the car’s ride height has been lowered and its suspension system features aluminium lateral links with pillow-ball bushings.
• This example is one of only 50 finished in the arresting hue of Sport Yellow, and its cabin is trimmed in black leather and synthetic suede.
• It rides on the correct set of lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels.
• Modifications include a full Trust exhaust system from the downpipe back, a Defi digital display and turbo timer, a Voltex-style carbon-fibre rear wing and Aerocatch bonnet fastenings.
• Furthermore, the original air intake has been replaced with an aftermarket item with an open cone filter, and quick-release catches are fitted on the front bumper.
• A plaque in the engine bay confirms the correct RA-R model code of GDBG4LH.

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage.
• The front wings and front bumper have previously been resprayed, and the Sport Yellow paintwork is in excellent overall condition, with a few small stone chips on the front bumper and fog light covers.
• Inside, the cabin is in good order, with small marks and blemishes in line with the car’s use, including a small tear in the vinyl below the far right-hand side air vent; scratches and scuffs on the glove box lid and centre console; and wear to the surfaces of the heater controls.
• There are no known mechanical or electrical faults; however the air conditioning system has been removed.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This Type RA-R’s most recent routine maintenance was a general oil service, which was carried out in August 2021 at an indicated 41,544 km by performance car specialist Auto Torque.
