2006 PORSCHE 911 (997.1) GT3 RS

This Porsche 997.1 GT3 RS is a track-focused but road-legal homologation supercar, which is presented in superb condition and with low mileage. Its engine is the stunning 3.6-litre M97.77 flat-six, which revs to 8400rpm and produces 409bhp, driving the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 18,054 miles from new.

A European delivery left-hand drive example, this car was supplied to Belgium in December 2006. It is believed to have had two previous owners, with the second being in Germany, before being imported to the UK two years ago. It was first registered here in June 2018 to its current owner, who has used the car sparingly, covering around 650 miles.

The body panels present in excellent condition, with no dents or scrapes, and with flush shut lines all around the car. Its Orange paint has previously been refreshed on the front bumper and rear arches to rectify stone chips, and today there are just odd stone chips around the lower front bumper and sills, as you would expect from road use. Overall, it presents superbly. At the back of the car is the signature carbon-fibre rear wing, and it also has a carbon-fibre front air intake fitted, along with protective mesh grilles in the front air ducts. The exhaust has been upgraded to a genuine 997 Cup specification system with Porsche motorsport cats and silencers. Its 19-inch wheels, door mirrors, and front lip spoiler are all finished in gloss black.

In the cabin, the original carbon-fibre bucket seats are still in place, upholstered in flame-retardant Nomex fabric. The material is in great shape, with virtually no wear to speak of. Alcantara trim is used for the steering wheel rim, gear knob and gaiter, handbrake grip, armrests, and headlining. The rear roll cage is in good order, as are the safety harnesses. Factory-fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, electric windows, and PCM with satellite navigation.

With seven stamps in the original service record, this 997 GT3 RS is in excellent mechanical order. Its last scheduled maintenance was carried out by Porsche Centre Tonbridge in November 2019 at 29,022 km (18,034 miles).

Prior to this, while on the continent, it was serviced in November 2017 at 27,631 km (17,169 miles) by Porsche Zentrum Allgäu, and in June 2017 at 26,708 km (16,595 miles) by Porsche Zentrum Paderborn. The spark plugs were replaced at 22,089 km (13,725 miles) in 2015.

Its first UK MOT test was carried out on 22 May 2019 at 17,887 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. Given the extension due to Covid-19, it is not due to be retested until 21 November 2020. The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 305/30 ZR19 at the rear. They are date-coded to 2017 and remain in excellent condition with plenty of tread.

Accompanying the car is a complete book pack, including the driver’s manual and stamped maintenance record, as well as two keys. The cherished registration ‘G13 ORS’ is included in the sale.

At launch, Evo magazine’s Jethro Bovingdon said the 997 GT3 RS was “a fantastic car, blurring the line between hard-as-nails racer and composed, fluid road car with incredible aplomb”.

This Porsche 997.1 GT3 RS is a superb example of the breed, which combines sharp track-focused dynamics with just enough practicality and comfort to suit longer road trips. Just 1,106 examples of this first-generation RS left the factory, making it one of the 10 rarest ‘Rennsport’ Porsche 911 models ever built. With low mileage, a vibrant colour scheme, and comprehensive maintenance history, this would make a fine addition to any collection.
