This 2006 Porsche 911 (997) Carrera 2 is a very low-mileage sports car in outstanding condition, having been impeccably maintained from new. It is powered by the 321bhp 3.6-litre flat-six engine, driven through the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just shy of 19,200 miles from new, which is fully evidenced by the service and MOT history.
An original right-hand drive UK-supplied car, it was first registered in November 2006. At its first MOT test, the car had covered less than 15,000 miles on the road. Over the last decade, it has been driven even more sparingly, averaging just a few hundred miles between inspections. Despite the low mileage, it has always been serviced on – or even ahead of – schedule.
There are just two previous registered keepers on the log book, and the vendor acquired this pristine example earlier in the year. He has looked after it just as carefully as the previous owners, and when not in use the car resides in his dry garage protected by a tailor-made breathable indoor car cover.
Beyond the standard factory specification, the first owner also selected a range of desirable options. These included the 19-inch Carrera S alloy wheels, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, Litronic bi-xenon headlights and coloured Porsche crests on the wheel caps. Inside, the cabin was upgraded with electrically-adjustable comfort seats featuring lumbar support and memory settings for the driver, front seat heating, cruise control and the aluminium gear shifter. Finally, the car is also equipped with the Porsche sports exhaust system with the switchable valve button, as well as the genuine Aerokit Cup package comprising of a revised front bumper, lip spoiler and rear wing.
Finished in Basalt Black metallic, this car’s bodywork is in outstanding condition, with a smooth and glossy appearance around the entire car. The vendor notes no blemishes other than a few very small stone chips on the bumper and bonnet, which are almost imperceptible.
The 19-inch alloy wheels have no kerbing grazes whatsoever, retaining their correct silver finish. An electric tilt-and-slide sunroof panel is also present, which is in superb order and working perfectly. At the back of the car, the rear bumper is equipped with parking sensors, and the Porsche sports exhaust is in pristine condition with no pitting or tarnishing to the polished tailpipes.
The interior is in excellent condition, with minimal wear consistent with mileage and certainly no damage anywhere in the cabin. The black leather extends to the dashboard and door cards, and the comfortable front seats are both in great shape, reflecting the very low mileage from new. The rear seats appear to have been barely used.
Ahead of the driver is the original steering wheel, and the rare aluminium-finished shifter is a delight to slot through the gears. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system features telephone and satellite navigation modules, and the car is also equipped with a Bose surround sound system with the CDC-4 six-disc CD changer.
This car has been meticulously maintained from new, seen and serviced exclusively by Official Porsche Centres. It boasts a full service history, including several visits ahead of schedule, and has never been left dormant for any period of time. The car has been kept in superb condition, passing its annual MOT test every September without fail, and having never received even a single advisory.
The most recent scheduled maintenance was in August 2019 at Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield at 18,849 miles, which comprised a major service as well as renewal of the brake fluid and gearbox oil, spark plugs, pollen filter and drive belts. A brand-new battery has also been installed recently. The car is not due another service – which will be minor interval visit – until August 2021.
Perhaps one of the most important benefits of this particular car is its warranty cover. In September 2019, this 911 passed Porsche’s stringent 111-point check with flying colours and was granted a two-year comprehensive Porsche Approved Warranty with two years of Porsche Roadside Assistance – which includes European cover. The warranty and roadside assistance is fully paid up until September 2021 and is transferable to the new owner, as long as they are not buying the car solely for the purposes of resale.
Its last MOT was on 11 September 2019 at 18,866 miles, which – as always – resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The alloy wheels are fitted with a fresh set of N-rated Pirelli P Zero tyres, in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 295/30 ZR19 at the rear. The tyres were brand-new just a few months ago, and are now worn in with around 500 miles of road use.
Accompanying the car is a complete set of original literature in the Porsche wallet, including the driver’s manual, stamped maintenance record, and other user guides. It is, of course, also free of any warnings on the HPI records system. Two remote alarm and immobiliser keys come with the car. The factory toolkit is also still in place. Finally, a C-TEK trickle charger connection has been pre-wired into the battery, and will be left for new owner to keep using if they wish.
This Porsche 911 (997) Carrera 2 is an outstanding example of a perennially popular sports coupe. It boasts genuine low mileage, unbeatable service history, and the best part of a two-year transferable warranty that is already paid for. Unquestionably one of the best-presented and most well-maintained 997s on the market, this is an opportunity not to be missed for the collector or keen driver.
