2006 PORSCHE 911 (997) CARRERA

This Porsche 997 Carrera is a particularly versatile example of the 911, which is easy to live with but also genuinely exciting to drive. Its engine is the 321bhp 3.6-litre flat-six, which is coupled to the five-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. It has been driven and enjoyed as intended, and the odometer now shows 97,660 miles from new.

The car was first registered in October 2006, and the clear HPI report shows five previous registered keepers on the log book. The owner acquired the 911 around two years ago, and has since covered some 2,000 miles behind the wheel.

Its body panels are in excellent condition, with no dents, dings, or other damage. Likewise, the seller states that the paint is superb - and It certainly appears to have a wonderful glossy finish in the photo gallery below. The car rides on the optional 19-inch Carrera S alloy wheels, which are pristine, accented by red painted brake calipers.

The interior has the extended leather package fitted, and it is equipped with electrically-adjustable comfort front seats with lumbar support and memory settings for the driver, as well as two-stage heating. There is some surface cracking and modest wear visible on the driver's seat, but otherwise the leather looks great.

Some of the switchgear has a slightly sticky coating in places, and there is some minor wear on the rocker toggles for the HVAC controls. Factory-fitted equipment includes optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), PCM with satellite navigation, climate control, a power sunroof panel, heated seats, rear wiper, and the Bose surround-sound system.

The car has a comprehensive service history, with the last scheduled maintenance being carried out in April 2019 at 95,308 miles by Porsche specialist Quorn Sports and Classics in Loughborough. This consisted of an engine oil and filter service, fresh gearbox oil, renewal of various brake pipes and flexi hoses, and replacement of the nearside front shock absorber, support arm and steering arm.

Prior to this it was also seen in November 2018 at 93,586 miles by Porsche specialist GCR Central, and in October 2016 at 88,358 miles by Porsche Centre Hatfield. The brake fluid was changed on both occasions, and the latter included a fresh set of spark plugs. In March 2014 at 72,894 miles, this 997 was given a full engine rebuild with new drive belts at Wiggins Autos in Notting Hill. This was a substantial overhaul, costing around £11,500.

Its most recent MOT test was on 14 May 2020 at 97,673 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. Over the last six years covering some 20,000 miles on the road, it has passed first time with no warnings or alerts whatsoever - testament to its impressive general condition. The wheels are fitted with Bridgestone tyres all round, which remain in very good order with plenty of tread.

Accompanying the car is a good service history file, as well as all of the original supplied books and literature, including the stamped guarantee and maintenance record. The tools, tyre inflator, and warning triangle are still stored safely in the front boot.

This Porsche 997 Carrera is a very smart 911 that is equipped with a number of desirable options. Its Tiptronic S transmission makes this an undemanding daily driver when you just want to get to your destination swiftly, while the steering wheel shift buttons allow the driver to have manual control when the road gets more exciting. The Carrera has always been a superb ‘everyday’ sports car, and this particular 911 needs nothing to enjoy straight away.
