2006 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO IX FQ-320

KEY FACTS

  • A smart and tastefully modified example of the rally-bred performance saloon, presented in good overall condition.
  • Under the bonnet is the turbocharged 4G63 inline-four with MIVEC variable valve timing, which has been tuned to produce approximately 400bhp and drives all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and an active centre differential.
  • An original UK-market example, this FQ-320 was first registered in March 2006, and is now offered for sale via the trade.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • First introduced in 2005, the Mitsubishi Evolution IX built on the already impressive Evo VIII MR, retaining its Bilstein suspension dampers, Active Yaw Control Differential and Super ABS system, while adding low-end response with MIVEC variable valve timing and a lengthened turbocharger diffuser.
  • This example is finished in the eye-catching hue of Palma Red, with black leather, cloth and synthetic suede covering its figure-hugging Recaro sports seats.
  • The engine has been tuned by Norton Tuning solutions to produce approximately 400bhp, and additional modifications include the car’s BC Racing coilovers, C-Tec exhaust system, grooved brake discs and uprated brake pads.
  • Cosmetically, the car has been enhanced with the addition of a carbon-fibre front splitter, side skirts, rear bumper extensions, vortex generators and Mitsubishi emblems.
  • It rides on a set of aftermarket 18-inch Rota Grid Drift alloy wheels, which are finished in satin black and are in good shape, though there are some light scratches on their spokes and kerb scuffs on their rims.
  • The car will be accompanied by its original handbooks contained in their correct document wallet, as well as its stamped service book and various invoices for its past maintenance.

CONDITION

  • There is no known bodywork damage.
  • It is not known whether the Palma Red paintwork has previously been resprayed, but it presents well overall, though there are some small corrosion bubbles on the rear wheel arches and front wings, as well as a small stone chip on the driver’s-side edge of the bonnet.
  • The exterior trim is in very good shape, however there are some small chips on the windscreen, as well as stone chips on the carbon-fibre front splitter, in line with the car’s use.
  • Inside, the cabin is in very good condition, with some general signs of use including creases and wear on the front seat bolsters, scratches on some of the plastic trim and scuffs on the front door cards.
  • There are no known electrical or mechanical faults, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
  • The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 7 October 2020 at 80,457 miles, resulting in a first-time pass with deterioration of the offside rear suspension ball joint dust cover listed as a minor defect, and slight play in the nearside rear upper suspension ball joint marked as an advisory.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • This Evo IX’s most recent routine maintenance was an oil and filter service, which was carried out in December 2020 at 80,864 miles.
  • Prior to this, the engine oil and oil filter were changed in January 2020 at 78,111 miles and in March 2019 at 76,523 miles.
  • The vendor states that the cambelt has been changed in the last 15 months, along with the AYC pump.
