2006 MINI COOPER S JCW GP

This Mini Cooper S JCW GP is a very smart example of a pared-back limited edition of a popular hot hatch. It is powered by a 1.6-litre supercharged inline-four engine producing 215bhp, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 60,620 miles from new.

First registered in September 2006, this Works GP is car number 355 of 2,000 delivered worldwide, and is understood to be one of just 459 sold new in the UK. There are six previous keepers, and the current one has owned it for less than a year, covering around 1,500 miles in that time.

The bodywork is in very good order, with no signs of any corrosion and excellent shut lines all around the car. The seller states that the Thunder Blue paint finish presents well, with only small stone flicks on the bumper, and one small ding in a rear quarter panel. All of the body trims are in great shape, including the carbon-fibre rear wing that is free of cracks and chips. The four-spoke alloy wheels have just been refurbished and are in excellent condition.

In the cabin, the supportive Recaro sport seats are upholstered in black leather accented by red stitching. There is no damage to any of the material, and only modest wear on the driver’s seat in line with the age and mileage. Bright red floor mats add a splash of colour, matching the panels in the luggage area and the wing mirrors. Factory-fitted equipment includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel, cruise control, air-conditioning, and heated seats. There is also an aftermarket Alpine stereo head unit, with Bluetooth, USB and aux-in connectivity. An original BMW Mini radio unit comes with the car, should a future owner wish to refit it.

The last scheduled maintenance was in March 2020, with a service carried out at a local garage. The engine oil and filter were replaced, along with the air filter. It was also seen and serviced in 2015 at around 56,000 miles and in 2011 at around 41,000 miles.

Its most recent MOT test was on 21 March 2020 at 60,612 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. A review of the online MOT history shows that the car has never failed a test - a very good indication of the care and attention of its owners.

The wheels are shod in Bridgestone Potenza tyres all round. The front tyres are date-coded to 2014 and remain in very good condition, while the rears are older and would benefit from replacement at some point this year.

The original book wallet accompanies the car, housing the owner’s manual, stamped warranty and service record, and all other user guides. Two keys are also present, as well as various old MOT certificates and maintenance receipts.

Driving the car at launch, CAR magazine concluded: "This is easily the most sorted S Works we've ever driven, grippy and controlled but far less bouncy than some we've thrashed in the past".

This Mini Cooper S JCW GP is an exciting hot hatch, presented in very good condition throughout, and remaining original and unmodified. These cars are increasingly hard to find in such good order, and this particular example would make a fine addition to any collection.
