2006 MASERATI GRANSPORT V8

This 2006 Maserati GranSport is a rare and low-mileage example of an exciting Italian GT, presented in a handsome factory colour scheme. It is powered by the F136 RB 4.2-litre V8 engine built by Ferrari, producing 395bhp that is driven through a six-speed Cambiocorsa automated-manual transmission with paddle shifters. The odometer shows just 25,963 miles from new.

It is understood that this particular car is one of the LE (Limited Edition) versions of the GranSport, which added a range of desirable features within one package. It included an extended leather interior, heated seats, the Auditorium 200 music system, xenon headlights, rear parking sensors, and red painted brake calipers.

This GranSport was first registered in January 2006, so it falls into the Band K tax category in the UK, meaning an annual discount of more than 40% compared to taxing later models. There is just one previous owner before the seller, who has only owned the car for a couple of months. Having enjoyed around 500 miles on the road, he is offering it now to free up space in his collection.

The bodywork of this Maserati is in very good condition. The metal around the rear lights, which is a common hot-spot for rust, shows no signs of any corrosion. There are a few stone chips and scuffs around at the front, and minor marks at the corners of the bumpers. A minor galvanic reaction is also visible on the nearside wing mirror stalk. Otherwise, the Grigio Alfieri paint presents smartly.

All of the light lenses, seals and trim pieces are in good order, as are the door jambs, bonnet and boot shuts. The car rides on the original set of 19-inch ‘Trofeo’ alloy wheels, which are in superb condition.

Inside, this GranSport is trimmed in black leather throughout, including for the hard-backed Sport seats, door cards, dashboard, and even the headlining. All of the upholstery remains in great shape, with minimal wear showing on the bolsters and bases, commensurate with the mileage. The front seats are also heated, and have memory settings on the driver’s side.

The steering wheel, dashboard panel and centre console are finished with carbon-fibre trim, and while all of the switchgear works as it should, the plastic coating on some of the buttons has gone slightly sticky. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control and the Auditorium 200 sound system.

In July 2019, the car was seen by recognised Maserati specialist Autoshield in Manchester, where approximately £1,600 was spent, largely on rectifying electrical faults to ensure that it would subsequently pass an MOT with no advisories. In April 2019, it was given a full service at main dealer Meridien Modena at 25,410 miles.

Other recent work has included a replacement offside rear wheel hub and speed sensor, and refitting of the windscreen with fresh bonding and seals. The seller reports that the car would benefit from a full tracking setup, but that it generally drives very well indeed.

Its most recent MOT test was on 22 July 2019 at 25,453 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. The wheels are currently fitted with Continental tyres all round, which have more than 4mm of tread remaining and are in very good condition.

Accompanying the car is the original blue leather wallet, housing the owner’s manual, stamped maintenance record and other sales literature. The complete Maserati tool kit also remains with the car.

This Maserati GranSport is an exotic and exciting sports car, presented in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. It is a genuine low-mileage modern classic, which remains in original and unmodified condition, and presents a superb opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
